Job description

The Facilities Electrical Engineer will be responsible for oversight of electrical system maintenance and installation activities on facilities maintenance and building core and shell projects. This includes review of design documents, submittals, RFI’s, schedules, and work progress in the field while assuring that project scope, cost, and schedule are being met. This position will regularly interact with construction contractor personnel while also reporting project status to Senior staff. The Facilities Electrical Engineer assists with commissioning, preventative maintenance, emergency response, repair, and technical direction on electrical equipment and installations. In addition, this position will review and enhance preventative maintenance procedures on facilities power systems. The Facilities Electrical Engineer will assist in creating and evaluating Value Engineering ideas and review project change orders relating to electrical installation. The position requires working in a collaborative environment with all project staff disciplines to proactively identify issues, root cause problems, and drive continuous improvement.

This position will be based in Auburn Hills, MI at the Stellantis Headquarters and Technical Center.

  • Assessing maintenance records and the mechanical and electrical condition of various mechanical/utility systems and equipment.
  • Design and installation of electrical systems including schematic design.
  • Assist the consulting engineers in the creation of construction documents.
  • Create long term capital improvement plans based on assessment results and develop work packages for building electrical/utility systems.
  • Provide technical direction for building electrical/utility systems and also provide studies and analysis for electrical/utility building systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing facilities for energy efficiency, conservation, and optimization.
  • Develop schedules and manage workload for new programs requiring electrical/utility building modifications.
  • Improve building trade workforce efficiency, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Review and enhance preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical system assets.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Basic knowledge of electrical one-line diagrams
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code NFPA 70 and Building Codes
  • Experience with problem solving tools
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Google software suites (including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs, and Google Meet)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Available and willing to travel and work overtime as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • 5+ years of experience in the Electrical Engineering field
  • Field experience on building construction projects
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD or Revit
  • Proficiency in BIM coordination
  • Knowledge of LEED Green Building design principles
  • Experience in automotive and/or manufacturing facilities design
