Job description

Duties:

  • At all times, demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Serve as a resource for operating crews including operator training, change over processes, inventory, critical spares, and tooling maintenance.
  • Ability to monitor and adjust tube mill and all auxiliary equipment for maximum efficiency and productivity as needed.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge and use of safety and personal protective equipment required of everyone working on the tube mill.
  • Ability to rebuild mill shafts. Side roll bearings, weld rolls, Read and understand the mill set up books and provide feed back to the supervisor and mill manager on any issues found with tooling.
  • Communicate with tooling venders, mill manager and Purchasing manager on any shipments of tooling coming in or going out. Communicate any other related needs that apply to the mills. Waste oil, mill coolant, mill lubricants.
  • Ability to have tooling staged and ready with all necessary components need for a full or partial roll change on all three mills.
  • Ability to set up and operate carbon tube mills as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced production line.
  • Dependability-Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals as needed. 
  • Ability to meet quality and productivity standards.
  • Facilitate collaboration throughout the department amongst all crews.
  • Recommend Tooling needs and recommend regrind of tooling based on worn profiles that have been verified through the use of the farrow machine used in the quality department. 
  • Inspect materials, products, Tooling, or equipment to detect defects and malfunctions. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
  • Able to load/unload tooling from trucks and at time coil trucks.
  • Ability to follow the direction and instructions of area supervisor, department manager as well as the management team. 
  • Maintain ISO, ASTM, and Customer dictated standards.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates required skills with the ability to share knowledge with others.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, with an emphasis towards a team atmosphere.
  • Must be dependable and able to work by oneself to achieve set goals.
  • 2 years of direct experience in the steel tube or pipe industry.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment and hit deadlines regularly.
  • Knowledge and ability to  set up and operate carbon tube mills is required.
  • Knowledge of tooling and components needed for change overs.
  • Fork lift certified.
