Job description

Position: Inside Sales Representative
Reports to: Inside Sales Manager
Basic summary of the job: Qualifying and generating sales within our established territories, with focus on exceeding customer expectations.
Essential (primary) functions:
• Talk with customers by phone, email, or in person. Quote prices, material availability and delivery. Obtain orders for stock and processed steel. Develop and implement system to efficiently follow-up with customers via phone, email, or in person to generate sales.
• Demonstrates ability to complete sales forms, determine selling price, estimate charges for services offered and prepares order for delivery as needed. Have ability to negotiate and make decisions on outside services such as machining, forming, galvanizing, and drilling, etc.
• Develop understanding of purchase order system.
• Develops business relationships and sense of integrity with customers to maintain or increase level of sales. Solicits and develops new accounts.
• Handles and responds to customer complaints regarding billing, pricing, service, quality and charges for services. Works with production, credit, administration and transportation to resolve situations in a timely and efficient manner. Institutes paperwork for product returns and credit as necessary.
• Develop and utilize a knowledge of market conditions, competitor methods, service advantages and credit policies to maximize the profitability of the company.
• Work with sales manager and sales staff to plan and implement strategies for key and target accounts.
• Have and maintain a complete and up to date understanding of company products, procedures, processing, equipment and estimating techniques.
• Work with and coordinate special customer needs with purchasing department, production and credit as directed or needed.
• Adhere to the Quality Policy at all times.
• Must be trained in all Quality procedures relating to specific job assignment
Requirements
Required education/work experience:
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university preferred; at least three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (in metals industry, or a closely related industry).

Necessary (required) skills:
• Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
• Employee must demonstrate basic ability to read and understand blue prints and detail drawings to discuss and understand needs of customers.
