Canam Steel Corporation is a major US manufacturer of open web steel joists and steel deck.  The company participates in thousands of projects each year ranging from large distribution centers and high rise projects, to small retail centers.  The steel joist business in the US dates back to 1986 as a partnership with Canam Group and our steel deck business was launched by an acquisition of the United Steel Deck brand in 2010.  The Corporation currently operates six fabrication facilities, several sales and engineering offices, and employs approximately 800 people across the United States.

Job Description

        Serve as primary contact to customers. Establish and maintain schedules with regard to both drawings and delivery. Work with customer to ensure that our schedule is current with job schedule.

        Schedule jobs by sequence (division) using Canam's internal software applications and work closely with joist and deck shop schedule in regard to schedule accelerations or delays.

        Coordinate with Shipping Departments concerning deliveries.

        Work with customer to ensure that drawings are returned from approval in a timely manner and adjust schedule if necessary.

        Identify, prepare and issue change orders for material and labor above and beyond the original contract.

        Review purchase orders and specifications on new jobs to ensure the work scope is consistent with the bid.

        Work with customer on any job site or schedule problems with a continuing attempt to avoid or minimize the cost impact of potential back charges.

        Assist with the change order administration where required.

        Travel to job sites and customer locations is required.

Qualifications

        Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.

        Ability to read, analyze and interpret all aspects of contract drawings and specifications - relating to structural, miscellaneous, joist and deck.

        Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures. Steel Joist Institute specifications, governmental regulation, drawings and job specifications.

        Understanding of verbal and written contract agreements as related to acceptable industry standards.

        Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

        Must have reliable transportation to visit job sites and customer locations.
