Job description

Shipping and Receiving - This is 1st and 2nd shifts. 2nd Shift - 2nd shift hours are from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

To collaborate with transportation providers to ensure prompt shipments and pick-ups are made to meet customer due dates in the most accurate and cost-effective way.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  1. Coordinate and negotiate freight rates with transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments
  2. Monitor all outbound shipments to ensure orders are in transit as scheduled
  3. Communicate any issues, delays, or budget restraints with our sales team
  4. Review purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy
  5. Prepare Bill of Ladings and send finalized shipping documents to billing
  6. Develop processes that make the supply chain more efficient and organized
  7. Enter receivers/manifests of material from steel mills via Rail or Truck.
  8. Manage a shipping schedule to accurately show sales/billing daily shipments
  9. Read and understand material certifications
  10. Manage and ensure traffic flow through the warehouse is working

Required Skills:  To qualify for consideration an applicant should possess the following skills:   

Experience in a Logistics related field

Knowledge using computers and other common office equipment

High School diploma or GED

Should possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend, in English. Able to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Perform duties to arrange and coordinate the shipping of product to customers in accordance with planned shipping schedules and in a cost effective manner.
