Job Summary
This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating off-highway haul trucks (off-road) to transport crushed stone, sand and gravel, and other materials within quarries, pits, yards, and/or plants. The Off-Road Haul Truck Driver will operate a rigid frame and/or articulated haul trucks of varying sizes, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials while adhering to all Vulcan and government rules and regulations.
Essential Functions
• Operate off-road haul trucks to transport material within Vulcan facilities.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of truck controls and functions, potentially including air brakes, emergency procedures, and safe operating practices.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
• Perform basic maintenance checks on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, functionality and tire pressure.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams for repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Some instances will require washing of the haul truck to facilitate a thorough inspection can be completed using high pressure hose, steam cleaner or pressure washer.

• Equipment Operation- Proficiency in operating large loaders with ability to accurately and smoothly maneuver and complete various tasks, such as loading, dumping, and transporting materials. Skill in handling attachments and understanding their applications.
• Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve work-related issues efficiently and effectively using practical knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills. Finds practical solutions, implements fixes, and adapts to unexpected challenges.
• Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, coordinating with other operators and ground personnel.
• Technical Expertise: Solid mechanical understanding of equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction and report them to the maintenance team.

Education
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
• Typically less than 2 years of experience operating off-road trucks in a commercial setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Possesses and maintain a valid drivers license.
• Performs basic hauling tasks under direct supervision.
• Focuses on developing safe driving habits and efficient hauling practices.
• Receives regular guidance and feedback from experienced drivers and operators.
• Maintain accurate records of materials hauled and locations of dumps.
• Complete any necessary paperwork, inspection records, etc.
• Proven experience operating off-road equipment.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in various conditions.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work with others and manage time effectively.
Other Requirements
• Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE, following MSHA/OSHA regulations.
• Maintain a safe driving record.
• Maintain a high level of situational awareness to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of yourself and others.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods, withstand vibrations, and operate controls with precision.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must have the ability to climb ladders while maintaining three points of contact and sit for long periods of time.
• Other duties as assigned.
Hourly Range: the hourly range for this role is between $23.59- $35.38 This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
