Position: Assistant Maintenance Supervisor
Pay: Per Negotiated Contract
Reports to: Director of Buildings & Grounds
Contract: 261 days
Overtime: Eligible
JOB GOAL:
To support the District's Instructional Program by ensuring that the building is clean and that the building operates as efficiently and economically as possible.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Experience in good building and grounds maintenance - including but not limited to:
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • H.VA.C., (hot water, steam, forced air)
  • Carpentry
  • Good general knowledge of most building mechanics and repairs
  • Good general knowledge of all equipment repairs (tractors, lifts, mowers,

cleaning equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to utilize resources available, both personnel and mechanical.

B. High School diploma or equivalent
C. Shall be in good physical condition with no past history of physical limitations precluding heavy
lifting and lifting 50 pounds.
  1. Must hold or be willing to obtain a valid Ohio Boiler Operators License (Low Pressure) within the first

year of employment.
E. Must score a minimum of 80% on Custodian Competency Exam.
F. Must hold a valid Ohio driver's license.
G. Must be willing to further his/her education in all of the above areas including technology.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must possess experience in all maintenance skills including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, heating systems (hot water, steam, forced air), and carpentry. Be diplomatic and tactful in relation to co-workers, students, and the general public. Possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The individual in this assignment must discharge all delegated responsibilities in a manner which is consistently in accord with the policies adopted by the Board of Education. Work related to the performance responsibilities listed below will be assigned by the Building and Grounds Supervisor. It shall include, but not be limited to those tasks listed below.
Essential Functions:
  1. Assist head custodians in establishing a good preventative maintenance program.
  2. Must be able to accommodate a fluctuating schedule.
  3. Willingness to perform any or all maintenance duties.
  4. Promote good safety procedures.
  5. Ability to train new personnel.
  6. Make recommendations for needed equipment, supplies, and repairs.
  7. Perform such other duties as may properly come within said position or be requested by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: May include, but not be limited to those tasks listed below:
  1. Demonstrate an ability to train new personnel with regard to the essential functions as well as additional functions of the job to which the individual is assigned.
  2. Perform other such related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisors.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Board of Education and administration will provide a safe and healthful work environment pursuant to applicable state and federal regulations. The individual in this assignment is expected to follow all safety rules and is to report any concerns with regard to his/her working conditions to his/her immediate supervisor.
  1. Work in all weather conditions (day/night)
  2. Lifting heavy objects
  3. Climbing ladders, etc.
  4. Working from man-lifts
  5. Operate various types of equipment (trucks-standard transmissions, snow plows, snow blowers, excavating equipment, fork trucks, man lifts, all types of mowing/grounds equipment, etc.)
