QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Possess a valid Michigan Elementary K-5 or K-8 S.C. Teaching Certificate
Possess work experience with elementary students.
Must submit evidence, at time of interview, of highly qualified status as defined through NCLB.
PLTW Certification Preferred but not required
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Principal, direct and implement the PLTW Curriculum. Plan instructional resources
and support functions of the STEAM/PLTW curriculum to enhance student learning and achievement; provide
consultation and professional development activities to administrators, staff and faculty to enhance the
educational effectiveness of students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, fine arts and math.
Essential Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
ย Provide STEAM content leadership for the schools servicing
ย Fully support a commitment to addressing the achievement gap for students of color, students living in
poverty and English Learners through STEAM activities while increasing the achievement of all
students
ย Establish and maintain liaisons with districts, universities, outside agencies, organizations, and other
partners
ย Plan, design, develop, implement, coordinate and conduct training and professional development
activities for faculty, staff and administrators in Project Based Learning, STEAM, and Project Lead The
Way
ย Ensure that STEAM activities are responsive to educator needs:
ย Make connections with outside schools and resources that might assist teachers in providing the
ย best STEAM resources to support our students.
ย Seek out opportunities for administration, staff, parents and students to connect with schools
ย around the globe for distance learning projects and discussions
ย Participate in the district STEAM initiatives and Teacher Learning Network
ย Ensure that STEAM activities are responsive to student needs:
ย Implement the PLTW Launch curriculum with fidelity.
ย Work with students on effective and safe use of technology, specifically as it relates to technology as a
ย learning tool
ย Support students in developing a responsible, effective online presence through social media
ย Perform other related duties as assigned
ย Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
ย Knowledge or experience in Project Lead the Way
ย Skill in implementing effective professional development activities
ย Deep knowledge of principles, theories, standards, practices, strategies and procedures involved in
ย project based learning and STEAM integration
ย Knowledge of curriculum standards and application in subject or instructional areas including science,
ย technology, engineering, arts, and math
ย Good judgment, flexibility, creativity and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs
ย Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
ย Ability to effectively manage a large project with multiple partners
ย Ability to multi-task and work independently with little direction
ย Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing
ย Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and timelines
