Job description

Overview
Grant Thornton Stax is a strategy consulting firm built for high-impact work with private equity and growth-focused clients. Following our acquisition by Grant Thornton Advisors LLC, we're expanding rapidly, combining the agility and culture of a boutique with the scale, reach, and platform of Grant Thornton.
Recognized as a top workplace, Grant Thornton Stax has been named to the 2025 Vault Consulting 50 Best Firms, Management Consulted's Top Ranked Consulting Firms 2025, and Consulting Magazine's 2025 Best Firms to Work For.
To support this growth, we're expanding our team of Consultants-professionals who are intellectually curious, analytically strong, and eager to take on real responsibility early.
The Work
As a Senior Consultant in the Value Creation practice, you will play a central role on high-impact engagements focused on driving revenue growth, EBITDA expansion, and operational improvement for private equity portfolio companies.
You will work closely with portfolio company executives and private equity sponsors to design and execute initiatives across pricing, commercial excellence, go-to-market strategy, performance improvement and growth strategy development topic areas. Engagements often extend beyond strategy development into implementation planning and measurable execution.
Our teams operate with high ownership, direct client exposure, and meaningful responsibility-without the heavy travel model common in consulting.
What You'll Do
โ€ข Lead workstreams focused on revenue growth, pricing optimization, sales effectiveness, and commercial strategy
โ€ข Diagnose performance gaps and identify value creation levers across customer segmentation, pricing, sales operations, and go-to-market models
โ€ข Develop actionable roadmaps with clear financial impact and implementation milestones
โ€ข Partner directly with portfolio company executives (CEO, CRO, CFO) to drive alignment and support execution
โ€ข Build financial models to quantify revenue and EBITDA impact
โ€ข Structure client deliverables that clearly articulate insights, recommendations, and measurable outcomes
โ€ข Present findings and implementation plans to private equity sponsors and portfolio company leadership
โ€ข Conduct scaled primary research, including phone interviews and web surveys to inform strategic recommendations
โ€ข Manage Associates, ensuring analytical rigor and high-quality outputs
โ€ข Contribute to business development efforts and support the growth of the Value Creation practice
What Makes This Role Different
โ€ข Drive tangible revenue and EBITDA impact across portfolio companies
โ€ข Work alongside executive leadership teams to implement meaningful change
โ€ข Develop deep expertise in pricing, commercial excellence, and growth strategy
โ€ข Experience sustained client relationships beyond transactional engagements
โ€ข Operate within a global support model that provides research and analytical leverage
โ€ข Rapid professional growth and clear pathways toward Manager and beyond
โ€ข Benefit from a sustainable consulting model with minimal travel (~10%)
Qualifications
โ€ข 3-5 years of experience in strategy consulting, value creation, commercial excellence, pricing, or growth strategy roles
โ€ข Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
โ€ข Experience working with private equity portfolio companies or corporate growth initiatives preferred
โ€ข Demonstrated experience leading defined workstreams focused on revenue growth, pricing, go-to-market, or operational performance improvement
โ€ข Strong financial modeling skills, with ability to quantify revenue and EBITDA impact
โ€ข Excellent structured problem-solving and analytical capabilities
โ€ข Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentation experience
โ€ข Advanced PowerPoint and Excel proficiency required
โ€ข Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
โ€ข High initiative, intellectual curiosity, and strong collaboration skills
โ€ข Experience managing small teams or leading defined modules within larger engagements
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a base salary range of $165,000-$190,000, plus a discretionary bonus. Base salary is commensurate with experience.
We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family; a 401(k) plan with company matching; open vacation policy; life and disability insurance; generous parental leave; pre-tax transit benefits; mobile phone stipend; wellness reimbursement; charitable gift matching; and more.
Grant Thornton Stax is an equal opportunity employer and affords equal opportunity to all applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability (except where the disability is a bona fide occupational disqualification), sexual orientation, genetic makeup, predisposition or carrier status, familial or marital status, military or veteran status or any other status protected under local, state or federal laws.
