Manager, Research - Houston

The Research Manager will support the Houston market and establish themselves as a thought leader, helping build and maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace through market expertise and providing analysis and strategic insight. This role involves engaging with market leaders while ensuring collaboration and support for client initiatives and business objectives.

The Research Manager will leverage data from JLL and other sources to analyze market conditions and effectively tell a clear and compelling story about the local market that will enable JLL and its clients to be more effective, competitive and successful in the real estate marketplace. The role will manage and analyze Houston commercial real estate sectors with a focus on trend analysis, market presentation, strategic business development support and research content creation. You will work closely with external research colleagues, brokerage professionals and clients in the local market, as well as with research colleagues throughout the nation within JLL's Americas Research group.

What this job involves
  • Manage production of all office and medical office market research reports and contributions to national reports, providing a unique house view on market drivers and influences

  • Analyze and report on the local and regional economy with respect to employment statistics, major company activity, industry trends and demographic shifts that affect the real estate market

  • Maintain extensive knowledge of the macro and micro factors affecting the marketplace and proactively position research to leverage this knowledge for the business and for clients

  • Maximize your skills and analysis to tell a compelling story about the local market to establish JLL as the clear thought leader for understanding trends in commercial real estate, economics and demographic drivers

  • Collaborate with the Research Director and senior market leadership to execute on research priorities

  • Manage the statistical and analytical quality of office and medical office data for the market

  • Communicate data excellence and insights via traditional reporting products and the use of advanced data visualization tools, including JLL's new and proprietary technologies

  • Develop and share best practice standards from Houston across the Texas and Americas Research groups

  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate the use of research as a differentiator, including being personally client facing

  • Work with sales enablement and marketing teams to position research to contribute to business development efforts

  • Develop thought leadership on key topics, issues affecting the market, economy and region and contribute to national research reports on market and industry trends

Desired skills and experience for this job
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, urban planning or related field desired

  • Five or more years in commercial real estate research or related field

  • Command of local market and business with good understanding of macro trends and historical perspective

  • Dynamic presentation skills and experience presenting insightful content to clients

  • Strong quantitative skillset with ability to identify new insights and trends through data analytics

  • Proactive and strategic thinking to enable innovative research output

  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team

  • Ability to multi-task, be resilient and effectively manage time and workload

  • Ability to lead research initiatives in alignment with business and marketing objectives

  • A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative and driven professional environment
