Job description

Overview
The Shield Co. Management / Eco Shield Pest Solutions is one of the fastest-growing pest control companies in the country! The Senior FP&A Analyst will focus on financial statement analysis and reporting within the Financial Reporting & Analysis department. The department also includes a business intelligence team and a budgeting and forecasting team. The analyst will partner with departments across the firm, including the Gilbert, AZ headquarters and across 50+ branches nationwide, to improve visibility into revenue, margin, operating expenses, cash flow, and branch-level profitability.
This role will be responsible for the integrity, interpretation, and communication of historical financial performance including developing financial narratives of the business by translating closed-period results into clear insights on what happened, why it happened, and what it means for management decisions. This analysis will help management understand the drivers of financial results, identify risks and opportunities, and support decisions that increase profitability and enable the company to grow at an optimal rate.
This will be a hybrid position, with attendance a minimum of two days per week at our Gilbert, AZ headquarters required.
Responsibilities:
  • Financial analysis. Analyze monthly financial statements to identify key drivers, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • KPI tracking and trend analysis. Track and explain movements in key operating and financial metrics.
  • Financial statement commentary. Develop explanations of financial and operational performance by translating results into clear, executive-ready narratives that support decision-making and action.
  • Management reporting. Build and distribute monthly and quarterly executive reporting packages, board materials, and operating review materials.
  • Decision Support. Quantify financial impacts, evaluate risks and opportunities, and translate financial statement trends into recommended actions.
  • Monthly Close Partnership. Work alongside Accounting during the close process to review the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Data Accuracy. Support financial statement quality by reconciling reporting outputs to source systems and partnering with Accounting, BI, and Operations to resolve data inconsistencies.
  • Financial Modeling. Build and maintain financial models that connect operational drivers to P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow outcomes.
  • Automation: Partner with BI to enhance dashboards and reporting tools by analyzing large operational and financial datasets to uncover trends, validate results, and improve the accuracy and usefulness of reporting.
  • AI Enablement. Explore ways to use AI tools to produce repeatable, consistent, effective, and efficient results.
  • Ad Hoc Profitability Deep Dives. Develop decision-support deliverables as needed, including margin analysis, expense analysis, ROI/payback analyses, and branch profitability deep dives.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, financial reporting, corporate finance, accounting, or related financial analysis roles preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and key profitability metrics.
  • Extensive Excel experience is required, including financial modeling, large dataset analysis, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Power BI, SQL, or other reporting and data visualization experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting and monthly close processes preferred.
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, BI, and business leaders to validate results and explain financial performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn detailed analysis into concise executive-level commentary.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related area.
