ABOUT GOLDEN STATE FOODS

Compounder
Day Shift - 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
 POSITION SUMMARY:
The Compounder plays a key role in producing safe, high-quality products by accurately batching ingredients, following detailed formulas and specifications, and maintaining a clean, efficient work area. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, takes pride in precision, and is committed to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Safely prepare batches by following formulas, batch cards, and product specifications.
  • Verify ingredients, record required information, and complete paperwork accurately to support quality and traceability.
  • Work closely with Quality and follow food safety, allergen, and sanitation procedures to ensure products meet standards.
  • Operate processing equipment and flow systems correctly, including basic troubleshooting and routine setup for production runs.
  • Clean, sanitize, and reassemble equipment using established cleaning procedures to keep the area production-ready.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following training, PPE, lockout/tagout, and other plant safety requirements.
PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:
  • Kneel or squat to retrieve ingredients.
  • Reach and twist/turn to measure and add ingredients.
  • Grip/grasp to open and carry boxes and bags.
  • Safely hose down machines.
  • Climb stairs involving 12-16 steps.
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator.
 
 
  • Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines while working.
  • Stand and walk for most of the shift, with regular reaching, bending, twisting, gripping, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Lift and move tools, ingredients, and materials throughout the shift, including items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Perform physical tasks such as kneeling, squatting, crawling, climbing stairs, and pushing or pulling equipment when needed.
  • Use hands for equipment adjustments, hoses, tools, and occasional fine motor tasks.
  • Have the visual ability to work safely and accurately, including close, distance, and color vision.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
  • Constantly work in damp, wet, humid and slippery environments.
  • Constantly work in high places near moving equipment with fumes or airborne debris.
  • Constantly work in extreme heat/cold.
  • Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasionally work with hand tools causing segmental vibration.
 
MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE
  • Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and uniform or smock.
  • Full-face respirator.
  • Cut resistant gloves.
  • Nitrile gloves, plastic apron, plastic sleeves.
  • Food safety knife, shears, measuring cups, scoops and small hand tools.
  • Electric and manual pallet jacks.
  • Lockout locks and tags.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
BASIC SKILLS:
  • Read and follow simple instructions, notes, and production paperwork.
  • Write or complete basic information clearly and accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and others in the work area.
  • Use basic problem-solving skills and simple math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Work with measurements such as weight, volume, and distance as part of daily tasks.
Pay & Benefits
Pay Range (Base Pay):   $22.90 - $26.43 
Other Compensation: May include shift differentials, overtime pay, bonuses, or other incentive pay as applicable to the position and location.
