Service Technician Job Description for Starwood Powersports

There is no typical day and the primary focus for the role will be building and repairing our customers off road equipment. This includes Side by Sides, ATV's, Watercraft and Motorcycles. Nothing better than that!
Starwood Powersports is a multi-line dealership (Polaris, BRP Can-AM, Kawasaki, Yamaha)
We are seeking an experienced A or B level technician to join our team! Technicians support Motorcycles, Side by Sides, and ATVs.

Responsibilities Include (not limited to):
  • Diagnose and repair off-road equipment, including Side by Sides, ATV's, Watercraft, and Motorcycles.
  • Coordinate with the service team for parts procurement and repairs communication.
  • Conduct trade-in assessments and document work performed on repair orders.
  • Perform Pre-Delivery Set when required and conduct road tests on off-road equipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely, lifting up to 50-70 pounds.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to support a team environment.
  • Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership.
  • Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are informed if any additional service is needed. Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.
  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to follow online course, take quizzes, perform knowledge obtained

Schedule
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday or Tuesday-Saturday

Supplemental Pay Opportunities

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Service Technician experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • B level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair
  • Dexterity, requiring a steady hand, excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent customer service skills and basic computer competencies
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with an eagerness to improve
  • Teammate with ability to collaborate with others effectively
  • Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

In 2014, Elm Creek Auto Group revitalized underperforming stores, expanding into the powersports industry in 2021 with Starwood Powersports. We're known for our concierge-buying experience, creative ATV/UTV custom builds, and recently, Starwood Custom Off-Road division.
A Day in the Life As a Starwood Powersports Technician :
  1. Report to the Service Office each morning for instructions.
  2. Update the advisor/manager on ongoing jobs and provide accurate completion ETA.
  3. Communicate immediately if problems arise during a job.
  4. Grab the next available job or diagnostic if no ongoing jobs.
  5. Install parts or diagnose issues, close labor out, and add parts/labor to the repair order.
  6. Seek assistance from the service advisor or manager if unsure about parts or labor.
  7. Test drive completed repairs and inform the advisor of the outcome.
  8. Collaborate with the advisor on re-diagnosing if repairs are unsuccessful.
  9. Keep working station organized
