What are some common challenges faced by remote interns at startups, and how can these be overcome?

Remote interns at startups often face challenges such as adapting to a fast-paced environment, managing time effectively without direct supervision, and building relationships with team members virtually. To overcome these, it's important to proactively communicate with your manager, set clear daily goals, and participate in virtual meetings and team chats. Taking initiative in asking questions and seeking feedback also helps interns stay engaged and learn quickly, making the remote experience productive and rewarding.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Startup Remote Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Startup Remote Intern, you need strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and a foundational understanding of the startup's industry, often supported by relevant coursework or prior internships. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Trello, and Google Workspace, as well as basic proficiency in project management or data analysis software, is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and time management skills help you stand out when working independently and with distributed teams. These skills are crucial for contributing effectively in dynamic, fast-paced startup environments where flexibility and initiative are highly valued.

What are Startup Remote Interns?

Startup Remote Interns are students or recent graduates who work remotely for startup companies, typically to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and innovative environment. They perform various tasks depending on the startup’s needs, such as market research, social media management, product development, or customer support, all from a remote location. This role allows interns to develop valuable skills, adapt to new challenges quickly, and build a professional network within the startup ecosystem, without the need to relocate or commute. It also provides startups with flexible, motivated talent to help grow their business.

Job description

You love GenAI? You are a content enthusiast? You want to take responsibility in a startup? Then this is a job for you
– Build the future of HSE with Akdo –
Fast growing Pre-Seed Startup serving the largest enterprises around the world
Building an ai-enabled platform to create tailored HSE/EHS trainings at scale - already training millions of employees
With an experienced team composed of serial founders, leaders at decacorns and early YC-employees
Tasks
Your Mission
Our trainings are already world-class — now we need to scale them. Working closely with Lena (Chief Learning Officer) and Alice (Learning Experience Designer), youll use your content and learning-design craft to make our AI better so we can deliver that same quality to many more clients. Youll be the bridge between great pedagogy and AI at scale.
Learning Content & Quality
Youre the go-to person for what makes a training actually land. You make sure our AI-generated content is accurate and delightful to consume.
Check the details:
Review scripts and modules to make sure theyre accurate, clear, well-paced, and pedagogically sound
Turn topics into lessons:
Take dense sustainability, safety, and compliance content and shape it into engaging learning modules
Spot the AI gaps:
Find exactly where the AIs falls flat — accuracy, pacing, clarity, engagement, instructional choices — so we can fix it
Apply customer feedback:
Take what clients and users tell us and use it to make our trainings better
AI Content Production & Product Feedback
Youll use our own platform to build trainings — and help make the platform itself better along the way.
Test new features:
Try out new AI features before clients see them and share feedback with Jonas (CTO)
Support multimedia:
Help create AI-powered videos and animations
Improve our tools:
Help us automate how we build trainings so were 10x faster than everyone else
Growth & Sales Support
Show potential clients whats possible with Akdo.
Build demos:
Create impressive, industry-specific demos for sales calls with Max (CEO)
Learn from workshops:
Join client sessions to understand the challenges big companies face and how we can solve them
Your Own Contributions
Have ideas for improving our methodology, new content formats, or smarter ways to use the platform? We welcome your initiatives.
Requirements
Essential:
AI enthusiasm:
You actively use AI tools in your daily work and studies, experiment with new models and workflows, and get genuinely excited about where the technology is heading
Content craft foundation:
Youve spent real time on writing, editing, instructional design, or training material — and you can point us to examples. You care how an idea is communicated, not just whether its accurate
Attention to detail:
You find satisfaction in perfecting the final touches and catching what others miss — especially important when crafting learning experiences that need to land
Organizational skills:
Comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Communication:
Excellent English; German proficiency is a valuable advantage
Availability: 4–6 months for a full-time internship
Experience & Background:
Any of the following is a plus, though none are required:
Hands-on experience with AI tools beyond casual use — prompt engineering, building workflows, testing models
Studies in a field where craft with content matters — Communications, Psychology / Business Psychology, Education or Instructional Design, Journalism, Business (HR focus), or similar
Exposure to corporate training, e-learning, or curriculum design (internships, thesis work, student initiatives)
Genuine interest in sustainability, safety, and compliance within business contexts
We care more about curiosity and aptitude than checking every box.
Mindset:
Thrives in a small-team startup where priorities shift and you wear multiple hats
Balances precision with speed — knows when to polish and when to ship
Collaborative but self-directed; comfortable asking for help and figuring things out independently
Naturally curious about how things work, whether its a topic, a training method, or an AI model
At Akdo, we believe in continuous development. Even if you dont meet every requirement,
what matters most is your excitement about the role and your drive to grow
