Job Summary:
SMSI is seeking multiple Commissioning / Startup Test Engineers to work onsite at Savannah River Nuclear Site (SRNS) in Aiken, SC. The candidates will conduct startup testing, design reviews, procedure development, and test execution. Candidates must have demonstrated previous experience with the use and implementation of Manual 5E, Startup Test Program, and related directives and standards, or an equivalent Commissioning/Startup program.
Responsibilities/ Abilities:
  • Personnel shall have technical knowledge of Commissioning/Startup Testing, including experience working in the following technical areas/labor categories:
  • Conduct of Startup Testing, Design reviews.
  • Procedure development, and Test Execution.
  • Demonstrated previous experience with the use and implementation of Manual 5E, Startup Test Program, and related directives and standards, or an equivalent Commissioning/Startup program.
  • Demonstrated previous experience in developing, reviewing, approval and presenting Technical Work Documents/Commissioning Test Procedures.
  • Demonstrated personal accountability for facility/project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work.
  • Demonstrated a minimum of 1 year of recent testing experience through support of the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry.
Requirements:
Personnel shall have technical knowledge of Commissioning/Startup Testing, including experience working in the following technical areas/labor categories:
  • Conduct of Startup Testing
  • Design reviews
  • Procedure development
  • Test Execution
  • Demonstrated previous experience with the use and implementation of Manual 5E, Startup Test Program, and related directives and standards, or an equivalent Commissioning/Startup program.
  • Demonstrated previous experience in developing, reviewing, approval and presenting Technical Work Documents/Commissioning Test Procedures.
  • Demonstrated personal accountability for facility/project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work.
  • US citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
  • Demonstrated a minimum of 1 year of recent testing experience through support of the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry.
Preferred Experience:
  • Glovebox Leak Testing and Balancing of Airflows within Lines of Gloveboxes experience.
  • ASHRAE experience.
  • Candidates who have balanced and tested HVAC systems could likely stretch into this role for Gloveboxes.
  • Startup Testing Execution qualification(s) Level II or III (per ASME NQA-1 test program).
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
Educational Requirements:
Candidate must meet one of these areas of criteria:
  • Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years’ experience.
  • Master's degree with 8+ years’ experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years’ experience.
  • Associate's degree with 12+ years' experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalence with 14+ years' experience.
