Job description

Job Summary:
Starburst is a leading data platform for analytics and AI, unifying data across various environments to enhance AI innovation. They are seeking a Resident Solution Architect to collaborate with customers, design solutions using Starburst products, and provide training to partners to ensure effective delivery of solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues while staying current on industry trends.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Collaborate with customers to understand their business goals, data architecture, and technical requirements.
โ€ข Design end-to-end solutions that leverage Starburst products to address customer needs, including data access, analytics, and performance optimization.
โ€ข Develop architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans for customer projects.
โ€ข Lead the implementation and deployment of Starburst solutions, working closely with customer teams and internal stakeholders.
โ€ข Learn in depth how the engine, connectors and integrations with 3rd party products work.
โ€ข Provide technical guidance and best practices to customers on using Starburst products effectively.
โ€ข Work with partners to train and upskill external personnel on Starburst Products for successful delivery.
โ€ข Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to create resources, best practices, application flow diagrams and internal processes that enhance partner delivery capabilities.
โ€ข Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the implementation and operation of Starburst solutions.
โ€ข Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data management and analytics.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
โ€ข 8+ years of experience in a technical role, such as solution architect, data engineer, or software engineer.
โ€ข Deep understanding of data architecture principles, including data modeling, data integration, and data warehousing.
โ€ข Proficiency in SQL and experience with distributed query engines (e.g., Presto, Trino, Apache Spark).
โ€ข Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about business challenges and technical solutions.
โ€ข Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and internal teams.
โ€ข Ability to Travel: This role will require 25% in-person travel for purposes including but not limited to new hire onboarding, team and department offsites, customer.
Preferred:
โ€ข Master's degree.
โ€ข Experience with Linux OS, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker and Kubernetes) and programming/scripting (Java/Python/Bash).
โ€ข Prior experience in client facing / consulting roles.
โ€ข Prior experience with open-source technologies and contributions to the open-source community.
โ€ข Prior experience with running technical training internally or externally.
โ€ข Familiarity with LLM-based data interaction patterns (e.g., natural language to SQL, retrieval-augmented generation).
โ€ข Understanding of AI governance, data security, and risks associated with AI-generated queries and insights.
