Job description

Job Purpose

The Director, Store Development and Planning (SDP) is responsible for driving store development for Panerai North America across boutiques (internal and external) and Shop in Shop (Corners). They lead the store planning from concept to opening and coordinate with internal design team, consultants, architects, contractors and business partners from feasibility study through execution and construction completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Location Scouting: Help analyze potential locations, develop budget and project timeline to support approval.
  • Design and Development: Lead and coordinate with internal design teams; support drawing phase and assist other markets as needed.
  • Pre‑Construction: Identify project architects, lead bidding; work with architects, HQ design team, IT and Security, landlord to align on US codes and design intent; monitor permits; bid and manage General Contractor.
  • Construction: Manage entire project cycle from conception to close‑out, ensuring timely delivery and budget control; responsible for ~5 retail construction projects per year in North America; coordinate between international SDP, local teams, consultants and vendors.
  • Administration: Track costs, process invoices, coordinate owner‑supplied items, reconcile with AP.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Work with stores, HQ, and vendors to resolve repair issues and maintain boutiques and corners.
  • Visual Merchandising Support: Provide VM support as needed, especially for complex installations.
  • Other projects such as potential pop‑ups in the market.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 5+ years of experience in store design, construction management or related field. Experience with architects, general contractors, millworkers and materials suppliers. Luxury goods industry experience preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Expertise in construction materials, methods, timelines, costs, and budgets.
  • Extensive knowledge of architecture, reading architectural drawings.
  • Understanding of building codes, permitting, ADA, energy and compliance regulations.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and negotiate bids and costs for architectural firms, general contractors, surveyors and construction management firms.
Personal Skills
  • Well‑developed relationship and stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to take ownership and drive construction projects end‑to‑end.
  • Strong negotiation and organizational skills; manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated agility and flexibility.
  • Travel up to 30%.
