JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective: The stamping technician is responsible for the daily set-up, running and maintenance repair of Samtec's high speed, progressive stamping dies in a fast-moving production environment.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  1. Must be a self-starter and a good time manager who displays a sense of urgency.
  2. Use experience and training to identify tooling wear and design flaws for optimal quality, performance, and uptime.
  3. Comfortable working with tolerances of .0003" or even less in some cases.
  4. Comfortable using precision gauges and understand toolmaker principles for precision measurements.
  5. Willing and eager to learn new technical concepts and maintenance methods.
  6. Must be able to troubleshoot, problem solve and perform multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  7. Must keep a clean and organized work environment.
  8. Exhibit accountability to your teammates and Samtec.
  9. Effectively communicate technical information to the team when performing work on equipment.
  10. Flexibility is important for occasional OT and schedule moves to cover business needs.

Required Experience:

  1. Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing or machine shop environment. Connector manufacturing experience is preferred.
  2. Excellent problem solving, investigation skills, detail oriented.
  3. Must possess good communication skills - written and verbal.
  4. Experience in engineering design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) a plus.
  5. Must be able to use Microsoft Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access). You do not need to be an expert.
  6. Proficient in basic shop math including the occasional use of Algebra, Geometry and trigonometry for angle calculations and SINE bar stack-ups.
  7. Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
  8. Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  9. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions: Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations.  May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear).  May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).

Preferred Education:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Journeyman certificate is preferred, but not required.
  3. College education is preferred (not mandatory).

  1. On the job training as appropriate
