Apprentice Electrician (Austin)

Base Power Company

Austin, TX โ€ข On-site

$23 - $25/hr

Full-time

Posted 8 days ago

Job description

About Base
Base is America's next-generation power company. We're rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization-electricity-by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today's fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the Role
Base is scaling the future of energy, and we're looking for an Apprentice Electrician who is eager to learn and grow in the field. You will be on-site daily-assisting with pulling wire, opening panels, installing equipment, and supporting real-world electrical work. You are an important part of the team that helps keep our battery fleet running smoothly. While you'll work under the guidance of licensed electricians, your primary value comes from showing up ready to work, learn, and do the job the right way.
What You'll Do
You will be actively involved in the field every day, including:
  • Hands-On Field Support: Assist licensed electricians with installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and general electrical tasks.
  • Installation Assistance: Help with pulling wire, mounting equipment, setting up battery systems, and preparing job sites.
  • Quality & Compliance Support: Follow instructions to help ensure installs meet inspection requirements and internal quality standards.
  • On-Site Learning: Work alongside experienced electricians to build practical skills and real-world electrical knowledge.
  • Tool & Material Management: Organize tools, stage materials, and help keep job sites clean, safe, and efficient.
  • Emergent Support: Participate in occasional after-hours or weekend work as needed to support urgent field needs.

What You'll Bring
  • Credentials: Enrolled in or eligible for an Apprentice Electrician program (Texas Apprentice License preferred).
  • Experience: 0-2+ years of construction, electrical, or hands-on trade experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Mindset: Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a "do it right" attitude.
  • Communication: Ability to follow directions, ask good questions, and work well with a team.

Benefits
  • Apprentice Pay: $25/hr.
  • Advance your career: enjoy competitive compensation, benefits, and clear opportunities to grow toward a Wireman or Journeyman role.

About This Team
The Installers team is a fast-moving group of problem-solvers who believe great systems are built in the field-not on paper. We value people who show up on time, take ownership, and are excited to learn a skilled trade. As part of the team, you'll get hands-on experience building real energy systems while developing the skills to grow your electrical career with Base.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone's an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we're creating. We work in-person. It's not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
Do the best work of your life at Base.
