Role                       : Staff Systems Engineer

Location               : New York City, NY

**Job Description**

Own architectural direction for infrastructure orchestrating tens of millions of Firecracker VMs monthly across a global bare-metal fleet. Youโ€™ll design systems at the kernel/filesystem level using eBPF, cgroups, namespaces to optimize petabyte-scale performance.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Own architectural direction for critical infrastructure platforms

- Drive reliability, performance, operational excellence as compute triples

- Work with technical co-founders on long-term technical roadmaps

- Lead complex infrastructure initiatives from problem to delivery

- Mentor senior engineers and raise engineering standards

**Qualifications**

- 8+ years in low-level systems or distributed infrastructure engineering

- Built and owned large-scale distributed systems at prestigious orgs

- Staff/Principal-level IC who changed direction/trajectory of an eng team

- Low-level systems experience: kernel, filesystems, Linux primitives

- Systems programming in Go, Rust, or C/C++

- Experience with Firecracker, QEMU, or Cloud Hypervisor

- Distributed storage at scale, e.g. Ceph
