  • Department: Cardiovascular ICU Stepdown - CVICU Stepdown
  • Schedule: Multiple Shifts Available
    • Full-Time Days, 3 12-hour shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
    • Full-Time Nights, 3 12-hour shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
    • Part-Time Days, 2 12-hour shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
    • Part-Time Nights, 2 12-hour shifts, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
  • Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham

The Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham is an 8-bed stepdown unit providing care for patients recovering from cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries as well as heart catheterization procedures. We provide certain care techniques like telemetry monitoring and advanced post-operative management. This unit serves as a transitional step between CVICU and other acute care units, offering nurses a unique opportunity to develop their nursing skills and cardiovascular expertise.
What You Will Do
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the
healthcare organization.
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare
    team.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required
Education:
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
