Job description


Responsible for utilizing the Nursing Process in a collaborative manner to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with his/her scope of practice. The RN supports the goals and philosophy of the Department of Nursing within the St. Joseph's Healthcare System and on his/her assigned unit.

Pay transparency:  St. Joseph's Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law.  The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc." The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.


St. Joseph's Wayne Medical Center, a division of St. Joseph's University Medical Center and a member of St. Joseph's Health, is a 229-bed acute-care community hospital that provides comprehensive medical and surgical care, emergency and diagnostic services to the residents of Wayne and communities in northern New Jersey. St. Joseph's Wayne Medical Center is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth. With a "patients first" approach to health care excellence, St. Joseph's physician-employee-volunteer team is focused on providing the very best care available - to our patients, their families and the community. 

More than 150,000 patients are treated each year at St. Joseph's Wayne Medical Center. Leading edge clinical services include orthopedics, spine, and sports medicine; cardiology/cardiothoracic services including a diagnostic cardiac catheterization laboratory performing peripheral angiograms and stenting, carotid stenting and pacemaker implants; non-invasive cardiology services including Holter monitoring, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography and trans-esophageal echocardiography; the Acute Rehabilitation Unit providing a full range of inpatient and outpatient services such as those of the North Jersey Swallowing Center; the John Victor Machuga Diabetes Education Center, offering comprehensive education and consultation programs; and expanded Ambulatory Care Center; as well as liver, biliary, and pancreatic consultation services.

Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.

Effective January 2019, St. Joseph's Health requires certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be granted through the American Heart Association.
