Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nurse Manager in the Emergency Room, you will lead the management of clinical nursing practices and patient care delivery on assigned unit(s), focusing on daily operations to achieve departmental goals and foster a high-quality care environment.

Every day you will manage human, fiscal, material, support, and systems resources. You will consistently promote a positive work environment, prioritize associate engagement, and support staff development needs with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong leadership, operational, and financial management skills, a deep understanding of clinical nursing practices, and a proven ability to foster a positive, high-performing team dedicated to quality patient care and continuous improvement.

  • Develop, monitor, and respond to a full range of financial, service, and quality indicators in all areas of responsibilities.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing plan matching competency with patient acuity. Focus on patient safety, patient experience, and performance improvement in alignment with unit/department goals.
  • Involve associates in decision through shared governance structure.
  • Maintain compliance with operational procedures/organizational policies for the clinical activities and regulatory readiness.
  • Conduct an evaluation of productivity and collaborate with finance to forecast revenue and expenses to prepare and manage the unit/departmentโ€™s budget.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with associates, physicians, and patients.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • BLS, ACLS through AHA
  • ENPC or PALS
  • NIHSS
  • TNCC 
  • Three (3) years RN experience.
  • One (1) year clinical leadership experience.
  • Current RN license to practice in state of employment as applicable.
  • Nursing Specialty Certification: Sit within six (6) months, and must achieve within two (2) years of hire to the role.
  • Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Nursing

Where You'll Work

The Emergency Department at St. Catherine Hospital has 14 beds including 7 bed Fast Track. We treat all ED patients and also do outpatient care in the afternoons as needed. Here, we see traumas, chest pain, strokes, sepsis and all other medical patients. Our mission is to treat others how you would like to be treated. This is a desirable department since we have a set schedule, are rural and tend to get some very interesting cases. We have a behavioral health inpatient unit and take care of a lot of behavioral health patients. In our department, we look for dependable team players.

St. Catherine Hospital, located in Garden City, Kansas, was founded by two pioneering physicians and the Dominican Sisters. They created and maintained the spirit that has enabled St. Catherine Hospital employees to develop a thriving health care facility unlike any other in southwest Kansas.
