How much do ssdi jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 27, 2026, the average yearly pay for ssdi in the United States is $59,644.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $48,000.00 and $65,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are SSDI benefits?

SSDI stands for Social Security Disability Insurance. It is a federal program that provides monthly benefits to people who are unable to work due to a qualifying disability and who have paid Social Security taxes through their work history. To qualify, you generally need to have worked and paid into Social Security for a certain number of years and have a medical condition that meets the Social Security Administration’s definition of disability. The amount you receive depends on your previous earnings. SSDI can also provide benefits to certain family members of the disabled worker.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

High-paying sales roles, such as real estate brokers or insurance agents, can earn $10,000 or more monthly through commissions and performance. Skilled trades like commercial plumbing or electrical work may also reach this income level with experience and certifications, often requiring on-the-job training rather than a formal degree.

What is the best job for someone with a disability?

The best job for someone with a disability depends on their individual abilities and limitations. Many find suitable roles in remote work, administrative support, data entry, or positions that require minimal physical activity, often with accommodations or flexible schedules. Vocational rehabilitation services can help identify appropriate employment options based on specific needs.

What to do if disability is not enough to live on?

For SSDI recipients facing insufficient benefits, applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can provide additional financial support if income and resources are limited. Additionally, exploring part-time work, vocational rehabilitation programs, or community assistance programs may help supplement income while maintaining eligibility for disability benefits.

What can you make working on SSDI?

Working while receiving SSDI benefits is possible within certain limits; you can earn a specific amount each month without losing your benefits, but exceeding that amount may affect your eligibility. SSDI recipients often work part-time or in jobs that accommodate their medical conditions, and they may need to report their income to the Social Security Administration. It is important to understand the work incentives and trial work periods available to maintain benefits while earning income.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) Claims Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an SSDI Claims Specialist, you need a strong understanding of Social Security regulations, case management, and detailed documentation, typically supported by relevant education in social work, public administration, or a related field. Familiarity with claims processing software, government databases, and electronic document management systems is essential. Exceptional attention to detail, empathy, and strong communication skills help specialists effectively support claimants and navigate complex regulations. These skills ensure accurate claims processing, compliance with legal standards, and compassionate service to individuals seeking disability benefits.

What are common challenges faced by SSDI claim representatives when assisting clients with disability claims?

SSDI claim representatives often encounter challenges such as navigating complex Social Security regulations, gathering comprehensive medical documentation, and managing high caseloads. They must effectively communicate with both clients and medical professionals to ensure all necessary evidence is submitted for claim approval. Additionally, representatives need to stay updated on policy changes and handle appeals, which requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
