Summary
Transform raw data from SRP's Customer Programs' many data sources into trusted, analysis-ready assets that drive business insight and enterprise value. Provide hands-on data engineering, pipeline development, and analytical enablement for the evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) of SRP's customer-facing Energy Efficiency (EE), Demand Response (DR), Beneficial Electrification (E-Tech), Transportation Electrification (TE), Grid Enablement (GE), and Renewable Energy Solutions (RES) programs.
The Data Engineer will design efficient data models, build and optimize complex data pipelines, and create reliable datasets that power production reporting, self-service analytics, and evaluation studies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical depth of engineering scalable data solutions and the analytical side of partnering with business teams to uncover insights, support decision-making, and improve program performance. The position will also support secure vendor and implementer data ingestion, cloud data platform development, data quality monitoring, and internal or external reporting needs tied to Customer Programs.
What You'll Do
  • Drive automation, reporting, and energy impact analytics across Customer Programs
  • Build robust ETL pipelines that unify large, complex internal and external datasets
  • Own secure data exchange workflows, including vendor and implementer file transfers
  • Design and scale modern data infrastructure, including warehouses, lakes, and access frameworks
  • Create trusted, analysis-ready datasets that power reporting, evaluation, and business decisions
  • Develop and execute data quality checks, validation routines, and exception handling processes
  • Build and support repeatable data pipelines and curated datasets for reporting, dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and evaluation deliverables
  • Support Snowflake and cloud data platform development (workspace setup, data loading, migration, QA)
  • Maintain and enhance program data structures, measure mappings, and business rules
  • Support preparation and validation of datasets for regulatory, compliance, and external reporting
  • Deliver high-impact dashboards and data visualizations to support business insights and decision-making
  • Partner with IT, program teams, evaluators, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business questions into scalable data solutions and analytical outputs
  • Communicate project updates and fulfill data requests supporting evaluation, reporting, and compliance
  • Collaborate with program implementers, internal & external stakeholders, and partners to translate business needs into scalable data solutions
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Support data engineering and analytical needs across EE, DR, electrification, and sustainability programs
  • Use AI responsibly, including Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, Agents and GitHub, to enhance deliverables, streamline processes, and improve efficiency
  • Participate in continuous professional development

Education
A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
Experience
This position may be filled at one of three levels outlined below, based on the candidate's relevant education, experience, or a combination of both that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and competencies.Level I - Associate: In lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 4 years may be considered.Level 2 - Journey: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 6 years may be considered.Level 3 - Senior: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 9 years may be considered.Eligibility for advancement (progression) to the next level in the same role is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python for data preparation, analysis, and automation required
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex relational datasets, Snowflake, and cloud data platforms (Azure preferred) required
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., ADF, Airflow)
  • Experience building dashboards, supporting self-service analytics, or partnering with analysts and business users to deliver actionable insights

Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
