Job description

Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a cleared Windows Server System Administrator to provide support to the DOE Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) contract located in Germantown, MD. The position has a focus on Windows Server system administration. Opportunities to be involved in other technologies are available. You will be part of a tenured and nurturing team to further develop your technical skills while supporting the security of the nation. This position is ONSITE, reporting to the DOE office in Germantown, Maryland. This position requires an active Top-Secret or Q clearance.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and monitor physical and virtual Windows based computer systems.
  • Install, configure, and manage storage appliances.
  • Vulnerability remediation and software patching and tracking.
  • System baseline hardening using DISA STIGs.
  • Manage Active Directory accounts and group memberships in both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Manage Microsoft Group Policies Objects (GPO).
  • Deployment of COTS and custom applications.
  • Automation of routine and repeatable tasks.
  • Document systems' policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information with clients, other IT personnel, and other team members.
  • Tier 2 customer support.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to manage projects to completion.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy within documentation.
  • Other assigned duties assigned by the Project or Program Manager.
Qualifications
  • US Citizenship
  • ACTIVE DOE Q or Top Secret Clearance
  • Windows Server System Administration experience at least 2-4 years
  • Computer and network troubleshooting
  • Understanding of patching software and deployment of patches (WSUS, SCCM) maintain accurate records
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; verbal and written.
  • Ability to develop and maintain complex technical documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements/processes.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Virtualization, servers, storage, and networking equipment experience.
  • MS Hyper-V, VMWare ESXi or similar hypervisor experience.
  • Familiarity with VMware Horizon vCenter or similar remote desktop software.
  • Familiarity with Smartcards/PKI.
  • Strong troubleshooting and solution research skills.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies LAN/WAN.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software concepts.

Salary: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00
