Job description

Position : Windows Server Engineer
Location : Chicago, IL - Day 1 Onsite - Locals
Duration : 6 to 12 Months
Interview: Final Round will be In-Person
Technical Skills:
• Experience in Windows Server administration (2016, 2019, 2022) and migration.
• Hands-on experience with IIS configuration, troubleshooting, and basic optimization.
• Understanding of server architecture concepts, with the ability to assist in designing and implementing scalable, secure server environments.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for server automation tasks.
• Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and firewall configurations.
• Experience with server migration tools (e.g., Robocopy, Double-Take, Zerto, PlateSpin)
• Basic experience with VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration abilities, with a focus on working with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement changes.
• Detail-oriented with an emphasis on efficient and accurate execution.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Carry out in server migration activities, including execution, and post-migration testing, ensuring minimal disruption and downtime.
Support the design and implementation of scalable server environments, under the guidance of lead engineer, to meet business needs for performance and security.
• Perform pre- and post-migration testing to validate server functionality, performance, and reliability, following best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth migration and integration of server environments.
Manage and maintain Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022), ensuring reliability and efficiency.
Install, configure, and support IIS (Internet Information Services) for web application hosting, addressing performance issues and basic optimizations.
• Troubleshoot IIS issues, including basic performance bottlenecks and security configurations.
Assist in optimizing server performance before and after migration, identifying and addressing issues related to server health and configuration.
• Resolve bottlenecks, latency, and connectivity issues, working closely with senior team members to implement fixes.
• Support the implementation of load balancing and failover mechanisms for ensuring availability and business continuity.
Assist in configuring firewall rules, ports, and security settings under the direction of senior engineers.
Ensure data integrity and backup consistency before migration and assist with restoring backups as needed post-migration.
  • Set up the necessary infrastructure and networking in the Data Center (DC).
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, ensuring compliance with company procedures and business continuity requirements.
  • Must have Hands-on experience with Microsoft technology stack ASP.Net, .Net core, WebAPI, Git, Dynatrace.
