Senior Windows Server Administrator in  GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

Cloud & Azure Expertise

  • Strong proficiency in managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including Entra ID and security optimization.
  • Experience implementing cloud security best practices and integrating on-premises systems with Azure services.

Core Windows Infrastructure

  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Certificate Services, DNS, DHCP, and Print Servers.
  • Expertise in domain controller operations, authentication protocols (Kerberos, NTLM), and security configurations.

Performance & Troubleshooting

  • Advanced skills in performance analysis and diagnostic tools for Windows Server environments.
  • Ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues using logs, traces, and network analysis tools.

Automation & Scripting

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or technology related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 7 years experience providing Sr Windows Server administration support and Sr server configuration support. At least one of the following industry certifications preferred.: MCSA/MCSE/MCTIP-SA or VMware VCP and similar certifications desired. Position Purpose: Provide Sr level Server Administration support in a virtualized environment.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Install OS applications, daily system maintenance, applications integration, upgrades on Windows systems in a VMware virtualized environment .
  2. Will work closely with network, application, and middleware teams to support product installations, customizations, and deployments .
  3. Perform Active Directory Services administration and management to include design, cleanup and routine maintenance and configuration .
  4. Will work closely with UNIX, OpenShift, Backup and Storage teams to support deployments .
  5. Provide operations support to ensure high performance backup and data protection, universal availability and simplified management of complex systems and storage networks .
  6. Supports, implements and maintains backup plans to ensure continuation of critical operations in the event of a disaster or recovery .
  7. Operation, configuration, and troubleshooting of organization backup and data replication infrastructure .
  8. Provide administration and support of the OpenShift platform .
  9. Provide Administration and support of the Spectrum Protect (SP) and Spectrum Protect Plus (SPP) platform .
  10. Perform Active Directory Services administration and management to include design, cleanup and routine maintenance and configuration .
  11. Develop or lead oversight of update, documentation and management of GPOs across .
  12. Develop and maintain user and technical documentation .
  13. Create administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, and install enterprise wide software .
  14. Monitor policies and standards for allocation related to use of computing resources .
  15. Provide support including software updates and upgrades, backup and recovery, performance mgmt and capacity planning for the environment .
  16. Collects and assesses information from the user community in software and hardware problem resolution .
  17. Defining and tracking metrics and key performance indicators to raise the bar in team performance and customer service .
  18. Reduce errors working with the other Windows administrators through process improvement and root cause analysis .
  19. Produces support documentation on demand .
  20. Help tune performance and ensure high availability of server infrastructure .
  21. Assist developing and maintaining configuration management solutions .
  22. Utilizes performance tools to help teams make the most out of the available infrastructure .
  23. Demonstrate strong customer service skills to provide onsite technical support focusing on strong listening skills to gain accurate understanding of the situation, displaying a sense of urgency to resolve customer issues .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Experience with GPO creation and maintenance.
  2. Hands on experience with VMware ESX, ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, and additional virtualization technologies and concepts.
  3. Understanding of enterprise storage technology to interface with storage administration group.
  4. In depth experience and knowledge of Active Directory, Hyper-V, VMware, IIS, MS SQL, WSUS and AD Group Policy.
