The Global Operations Technology (GOT) team develops and manages innovative products designed to support the ever-changing threat landscape. We work in close partnership with our Corporate Security, Fraud Business, and key Technology Partners throughout Scotiabank to drive technology on a global basis. We are key team members within Enterprise Technology to ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

We are seeking an energetic, self-starter willing to take on a challenge! This position will deliver against key internal fraud and insider threat solutions. This role will support both ongoing and new projects that serve our global stakeholders-including Internal Fraud, Corporate Security, AML, and Risk-by ensuring specific goals, plans, and initiatives align with the team's business strategies and objectives through effective technology solutions. All activities must comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. In addition, the role will provide support for day-to-day operational activities, ensuring smooth execution of technology processes and addressing operational challenges as they arise.


The incumbent is responsible, through independent contribution, collaboration with the stakeholders and the management/supervision of Senior Manager, on the design, development, integration, and implementation of Insider Threat/ Internal Fraud/ Enhanced Employee Monitoring initiative across the Enterprise level. The individual must thrive on challenge, be proactive and dynamic, and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn.

Design and maintain backend services to ensure seamless performance and security.
Build and enhance front end applications, providing users with exceptional experience.
Collaborate with product and UX teams to develop innovative solutions.
Write clean, testable code that adheres to software design principles.
Ensure application security and optimize performance for efficiency.
Design robust software architecture and implement CI/CD pipelines.
Participating in code reviews and integrating with third-party systems.
Supporting production systems and mentoring junior developers.
Improving engineering practices and contributing to team culture.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand user needs and technical requirements
Write and manage your own development tasks as Jira tickets with clear acceptance criteria
Create high-fidelity mockups and prototypes 
Act as a core developer for both the frontend and backend-for-frontend  components of the web application
Contribute to team planning, sprint reviews, and roadmap discussions
Gain a strong understanding of the development and deployment processes within the bank's cloud infrastructure and governance environment
Write clean, testable, and well-documented code aligned with security and compliance standard


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field and 5+ years of full stack development experience required
Proficiency in web development using HTML and CSS
Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries
Familiarity with development and deployment on cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform preferred, AWS or Azure acceptable)
Experience designing and integrating with APIs 
Proficiency in Node.js, Java, Net,  TypeScript, and JavaScript.
Experience with React, Angular, and REST APIs.
Experience with relation and non relational databases
Strong understanding of code quality practices, including linting, code reviews, and automated formatting tools
Experience with Agile development methodologies and work in an Agile environment and adapt quickly to shifting priorities or direction
Experience using Jira for issue tracking and sprint planning
Proficient in gathering and integrating user feedback to drive ongoing product enhancement.
Strong collaboration skills, with a willingness to work closely with engineers, designers, and product managers
Motivated to understand stakeholder needs and contribute meaningfully to the product vision
Skilled at estimating effort, setting realistic timelines, and being accountable for deliverables
Proactively raises technical or product issues and contributes to problem-solving
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
