Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

Location: Myrtle Beach, SC

About the Opportunity

American Outliers is partnering with an established South Carolina heavy civil contractor to hire a Senior Project Manager for its Myrtle Beach operation.


This is a senior leadership role overseeing complex heavy civil, underground utility, and site development projects from contract award through completion. The company self-performs a significant portion of its work and is looking for an experienced PM who understands both the financial and field execution sides of construction.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead multiple heavy civil projects from award through closeout
  • Own project budgets, forecasting, cost control, billings, profitability, and cash flow
  • Develop and manage project schedules alongside superintendents and field leadership
  • Manage contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, and project documentation
  • Monitor labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and production costs
  • Coordinate field resources across crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, engineers, municipalities, GCs, and vendors
  • Mentor Project Managers, Assistant PMs, Project Engineers, and other team members
  • Drive safety, quality, schedule, and operational performance across assigned projects


What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of progressive heavy civil construction experience
  • Significant project management experience with ownership of project financials, schedules, contracts, and field execution
  • Strong experience in some combination of underground utilities, water / wastewater, storm drainage, grading and earthwork, or site development.
  • Experience managing self-performed civil construction strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and project teams simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of cost-to-complete forecasting, productivity, change management, and construction contracts
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyJob, B2W/Bid2Win, AGTEK, or similar heavy civil software is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; significant relevant experience may substitute


Location

This role is based in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area and includes regular travel to active project sites throughout the region.
