Position Summary

The Pastor/Director of Adult Ministries provides pastoral leadership and strategic direction for adult discipleship, relational community, and leadership development at Grace Fellowship Church. This role serves as both shepherd and architect, ensuring people are spiritually formed in authentic community while building clear, scalable systems that move adults from engagement to maturity and leadership.

This leader owns the vision, health, and effectiveness of Groups, Rooted, and future community expressions, while ensuring execution through strong leadership development, aligned systems, and cross-ministry collaboration. This role plays a key leadership function in ensuring the church's discipleship strategy is clear, aligned, and scalable as the church grows. This role provides oversight and alignment for key adult ministry environments and leaders, ensuring a cohesive discipleship strategy across the church.

Primary Position Responsibilities

Pastoral Leadership and Discipleship Vision

  • Champion a culture of spiritual formation, prayer, and Spirit-led community
  • Ensure a clear pathway from Guest Groups Serving Leadership
  • Align discipleship environments with weekend teaching and church vision
  • Shepherd leaders and key volunteers toward spiritual health and maturity

Groups and Adult Community (Execution and Oversight)

  • Lead the strategy, structure, and health of Small Groups across campuses
  • Oversee sermon-based group alignment, quality, and consistency
  • Build, train, and sustain leaders and coaching structures
  • Establish clear group launch and multiplication rhythms

Rooted and Discipleship Environments

  • Oversee Rooted as a primary on-ramp to discipleship
  • Ensure a transformational experience with clear next steps
  • Develop and support facilitators and leaders

Community Innovation (Future Growth)

  • Discern and develop new expressions of community as the church grows
  • Pilot and evaluate new models (affinity, short-term, missional, etc.)
  • Integrate new environments into the overall discipleship pathway

Leadership Development (Strategy and Oversight)

  • Set and champion the vision for leadership development with adult discipleship.
  • Ensure clear and effective movement from community into serving and leadership.
  • Identify and develop emerging leaders across all environments.
  • Ensure leadership systems, pathways, and standards are clearly defined, aligned, and scalable.
  • Provide direction and oversight to leadership development efforts to ensure execution meets vision and ministry outcomes.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Ensure alignment between adult discipleship strategy and weekend teaching, guest engagement, and worship environments
  • Collaborate with key ministry leaders to drive movement into Groups, Serving, and Leadership
  • Contribute to and execute against overall church strategy and multi-campus expansion

Candidate Criteria

  • Demonstrates pastoral calling with a heart for discipleship and people
  • Proven ability to build systems and lead through other leaders
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution instincts
  • High relational intelligence and team leadership capacity
  • Operates with humility, clarity, and ownership

Education/Experience

  • Experience in adult discipleship, groups, or similar ministry leadership
  • Track record of developing leaders and building scalable systems
  • Experience leading staff or key ministry leaders
  • Theological alignment with GFC

Working Hours and Conditions

Business Hours/Exceptions

This position is full time with various hours, including evenings and weekends as required by ministry needs. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required during designated all-church events, including Christmas, Easter, and Fall Launch.

Travel Requirements and Expectations

Occasional offsite meetings and periodic travel for training, conferences, professional development, or multi-campus support may be required.
