Quantum Leap Research is seeking a Senior Network / Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of complex, on-premise infrastructure environments. This role blends deep networking expertise with systems engineering and automation.


You will serve as a technical leader responsible for building and maintaining multi-vendor network environments, while driving infrastructure automation and integration across systems.


Responsibilities:

  •  Design and implement datacenter and site network architectures (on-prem, SDN-focused)
  • Configure and manage networking equipment: Cisco, Arista, VyOS, and other platforms
  • Build and maintain routing environments, including Linux-based routing
  • Design and support SDN, WAN/SD-WAN, BGP, MPLS, and VPN configurations
  • Deploy infrastructure into remote datacenters, including documentation and validation
  • Administer Linux systems supporting infrastructure and network services
  • Implement and manage firewalls (pfSense, VyOS, ACLs, Linux firewalls)
  • Lead infrastructure automation initiatives using Ansible and configuration management tools
  • Manage and integrate tools such as OpenSearch/Elastic and monitoring/logging systems
  • Maintain up-to-date network documentation and diagrams (NetBox or similar)
  • Own projects end-to-end:
    • Define scope
    • Break down work
    • Estimate timelines
    • Deliver outcomes
  • Support ongoing operations:
    • Patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
    • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization
    • System validation and documentation


Qualifications:

Required

  •  Deep experience in network engineering within on-prem/datacenter environments
  • Strong expertise with:
    • Cisco, Arista, VyOS
    • Routing protocols (BGP required; MPLS preferred)
    • SDN and Linux-based routing
  • Strong Linux systems administration skills
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible strongly preferred)
  • Experience with configuration management and system integration
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls and network security controls
  • Proven ability to:
    • Design and deploy complex infrastructure
    • Work across multi-vendor environments
    • Own projects independently


Preferred

  • Experience with:
    • Proxmox or virtualization platforms
    • OpenSearch / Elastic stack
    • PacketFence, Fluentd, Oxidized
    • AWX (Ansible Tower)
  • Exposure to non-cloud / locally hosted infrastructure environments
  • Experience integrating networking with systems and application layers


Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $155,000  - $175,000. Salary ranges reflect compensation for qualified candidates across a range of experience levels and are flexible; actual salary will be determined based on demonstrated skills, experience, and performance.
