Job Description:

The Senior Database Analyst (Sr. DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the OCIO enterprise database environments. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of missioncritical database systems and supports both onpremises and cloudbased platforms. The ideal candidate has strong technical depth, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a proactive mindset toward data security and system resilience.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Senior Database Analyst, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of GDIT. You will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the OCIO enterprise database environments.

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server and Oracle database environments.
  • Develop and implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database performance; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Ensure security best practices are applied, including cyber protocols, patching, and access controls.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and security teams to support application and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Perform database migration, upgrades, and patching in a controlled and documented manner.
  • Support cloudbased database deployments, with familiarity in OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon AWS is considered a strong plus.
  • Create and maintain database documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Participate in oncall rotation for critical database support.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs or technical staff.
  • Serve as a team lead on projects or tasks as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your Enterprise Database Administration expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Database Analyst Senior must have:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 7+ years of related experience
Technical skills:

  • Proven expertise in database backup/recovery strategies and tools (RMAN, Data Pump, SQL Server backup/restore, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of database security, auditing, encryption, and cyber protocols.
  • Handson experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and storage configuration.
  • Solid understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions (AlwaysOn, Data Guard, clustering, replication).
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python or similar).
  • Experience working with OCI and Azure cloud database services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with automation tools and monitoring platforms.

The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
