SENIOR TECHNICAL PROGRAMS SPECIALIST
Technical Programs | Inspection & Testing | Equipment & Calibration | Up to 25% Travel
FST Technical Services is seeking a Senior Technical Programs Specialist to serve as a key technical subject matter expert supporting process piping systems, inspection and testing technologies, equipment management, calibration programs, technical standards, and engineering support within regulated and high-technology manufacturing environments.
Position Overview
This role will develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve technical programs, equipment management systems, calibration processes, standards, procedures, and training initiatives that support operational excellence and project execution. The Senior Technical Programs Specialist will provide technical guidance to operations personnel, quality teams, project teams, clients, and leadership while exercising significant independent judgment in the interpretation and application of industry standards, technical requirements, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices.
What You'll Do
โ€ข Serve as a technical resource for process piping systems, inspection technologies, testing methodologies, leak testing, equipment applications, and engineering support activities.
โ€ข Provide technical guidance to project teams, field personnel, quality staff, management, and clients.
โ€ข Interpret and apply industry standards, client specifications, technical requirements, and engineering best practices.
โ€ข Support project planning, scope development, estimating, technical reviews, execution activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
โ€ข Develop and maintain technical procedures, work instructions, engineering standards, forms, guidance documents, and best-practice materials.
โ€ข Review technical reports, specifications, documentation, and project deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
โ€ข Maintain and support company equipment inventory, asset management, and calibration programs, including tracking, deployment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and calibration records.
โ€ข Coordinate calibration services, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and replacement activities; investigate equipment failures, discrepancies, and performance concerns.
โ€ข Develop and support technical training, qualification, certification, examinations, evaluations, and employee competency-development programs.
โ€ข Support field examination, inspection, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, audits, assessments, and client technical reviews.
โ€ข Identify opportunities to improve technical processes, equipment utilization, training effectiveness, compliance, quality, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent.
โ€ข Advanced technical expertise in process piping systems, inspection, testing, engineering support, equipment management, quality systems, or a related technical discipline.
โ€ข Experience developing or supporting technical programs, procedures, standards, or training initiatives.
โ€ข Experience managing technical equipment inventories, asset-control systems, or calibration programs.
โ€ข Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering documents, industry standards, and client requirements.
โ€ข Experience supporting technical investigations, problem solving, or compliance programs.
โ€ข Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, technical writing, and communication skills.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and technical discretion.
โ€ข Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Quality Systems, or a related technical field.
โ€ข ASNT certifications or experience supporting technical certification programs.
โ€ข Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
โ€ข Experience with asset management, calibration management, or quality management software.
โ€ข Knowledge of process piping, leak testing, commissioning, validation, quality assurance, or construction quality activities.
โ€ข Experience supporting field inspection, testing, and technical service operations.
Work Environment & Travel
The position may work across office, laboratory, manufacturing, industrial, construction, and client-site environments. Travel of up to 25% may be required for project support, audits, training, equipment activities, vendor visits, investigations, and other operational needs. Field activities may require standing, walking, climbing, lifting or transporting technical equipment, and use of required personal protective equipment.
