Job Title: Senior Applications Engineer

 Location: Onsite – Fiskdale, MA or Danvers, MA (5 days/week)
 Salary Range: $110,000 – $140,000 per year (Salary Exempt)

The Opportunity
 We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Applications Engineer to lead and implement technical solutions to customers’ needs and support G&F’s engineering team with implementation.

What You’ll Do

  • Application Evaluation: Independently evaluate customer silicone rubber and plastic applications for manufacturability.
  • Strategy Identification: Identify and lead tooling, automation, injection molding, and risk reduction strategies to successfully manufacture custom parts.
  • Technology Collaboration: As an independent technical-commercial leader, you’ll partner with mold making, equipment, automation, quality and material experts to develop robust solutions and align cross-functional teams around project requirements.
  • Cost Modeling: Develop cost models, margin recommendations, and quotation strategies that balance customer value, technical risk, operational fit, and business objectives. 
  • Customer Confidence: Confidently leads tradeoff discussions, challenges unrealistic requirements, and makes commitments the organization can keep.
  • Design Leadership: Lead design for manufacturing activities using SolidWorks, mold filling analysis, CT scanning, and other technologies.
  • Prototyping Support: Guide prototyping and technical risk reduction on key projects to ensure continued customer support as programs transition.
  • Program Handoff: Lead cross-department discussions and represent the applications and represent the applications engineering function in strategic customer, technical, and commercial reviews.

What You’ll Bring
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in injection molding, molds, applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, technical sales, or customer-facing engineering required; medical device or other regulate manufacturing experience strongly preferred. 
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Visa Status: Authorized to work in the U.S. and eligible to work without sponsorship. Must be ITAR compliant (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder)
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software), alongside the ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings. 
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of plastic and silicone injection molding processes, molds, materials, and automation, with ISO 9001 and/or 13485 experience preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of business internally and externally, with the ability to drive action across functions, escalates barriers with urgency, and finds creative paths forward to execution.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in cleanroom environments, lift up to 15 pounds, and work at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Travel: Ability to accommodate occasional domestic and international travel, alongside periodic, consistent travel between the Danvers, MA and Fiskdale, MA facilities.
