Job description

Our client, a major bank in New York City, is looking for SQL Server Lead DBA.ย  New York City Location.
This is hybrid commute, 2/3 days per week in the office.
** Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in USย ย  - NO H1 Visa support for this role<>
Salary range 190-200K, plus around 20% bonus, plus great benefits package.

SQL Server Lead DBA
Will be responsible for managing a team accountable for the companyโ€™s SQL Server database systems ensuring resiliency, uptime, HA/DR, performance, capacity planning, overall monitoring, compliance, and documentation.
The ideal candidate provides oversight for day-to-day operational health, incident management, and service reliability across SQL Server database environments. The successful candidate requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, a focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with bank SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with stakeholders to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
Requirements:
ยท Manage and lead a small team of DBAs, providing guidance and sharing best practices.
ยท Experience conducting enterprise modernization and upgrade programs.
ยท Identify, assess, and escalate operational risks to senior leadership with clear mitigation strategies.
ยท Familiarity with large financial services or similarly complex enterprise environments.
ยท Ability to push back constructively on misaligned demands, unclear ownership, or inappropriate risk transfer.
ยท Utilize available toolset (OpsRamp, SQL Sentry, Embarcadero DB/Artisan, etc.) for database tuning. Generate traces, execution plans, identify and resolve performance issues, address deadlocks/contention.
ยท Develop HA/DR strategies to meet or exceed application RTO/RPO targets and implement solutions for managing backup and recovery.
ยท Support and mentor software developers to drive proper coding practices and assist in the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures/functions/triggers/etc.
ยท Participate in and manage 24x7 on-call rotation to support database environment.
ยท Support ancillary systems in the database environment (Delphix, etc.)
ยท Prior ownership of audit, compliance, or regulatory interactions.
ยท Experience with Azure technologies as they related to the Microsoft Data Platform is preferred.
ยท Ideal candidates will have some familiarity with other DBMSs and be able to monitor and triage issues across all database management systems in the bank environment as required (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, PostgreSQL, etc.).
