Position Overview:
Silco is seeking a skilled Sprinkler Fitter to join our team. The Sprinkler Fitter will play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire sprinkler systems in commercial properties. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with strong technical skills and desire to help protect people and property.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, repair, inspect, and maintain fire sprinkler systems in accordance with project specifications, NFPA standards, and local building codes.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine the layout and configuration of sprinkler systems.
  • Assemble and install pipes, fittings, valves, and other components of sprinkler systems, ensuring proper alignment and connection.
  • Test newly installed sprinkler systems to verify functionality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of existing fire protection systems, including troubleshooting and repairing issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including engineers, project managers, and inspectors, to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, labor hours, and project documentation.
  • Provide training and guidance to other team members as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent completion of a formal apprenticeship program or trade school in sprinkler fitting preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Ohio licenses for sprinkler systems, fire mains, fire pumps, backflow, and fire alarms required.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA codes and standards, as well as local building and fire codes.
  • Strong technical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair sprinkler system components.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and successfully passing pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background checks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to climb ladders, use lifts, and work at various heights.
  • Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Requires occasional pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Must be able to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Capable of driving company vehicles and transporting equipment or materials when needed.
