DEPARTMENT: Office of Undergraduate Admissions
REPORTS TO: Campus Experience Manager
HOURLY RATE: $16.00

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Campus Visit Intern will provide leadership to the Student Assistant team that supports the daily operations of the office, contribute to event and group visits, manage inventory and supplies and support the campus visitor experience at the Welcome Center.
JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Office of Undergraduate Admission and Student Assistants
  • Provide student leadership in recruiting, the hiring process, onboarding/training, and recognition of the student assistants.
  • Foster an engaging and supportive work environment for student assistants, empowering them to serve as enthusiastic and professional representatives of Dominican University by sharing the student perspective throughout the recruitment and admission process.
  • Lead kick-off meetings (Fall and Spring) for the student assistant team to provide key updates, set expectations, and align goals for the semester.
  • Create team building/fun opportunities for student assistants and provide relevant coaching and mentoring.
  • Develop, maintain, & organize Admission office procedures, projects, files and OneNote manual and student assistant schedules in Microsoft Teams.
  • Train student assistants to effectively utilize Slate to access student records and event information and support incoming calls to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
  • Review Live Chat outreach to facilitate learning opportunities for student assistants, build response templates and provide insight/feedback for campus partners.
  • Organize Admission storage spaces and assist the Events intern with managing inventory of giveaways, supplies, and event materials.
  • Manage the show room (when available)- staging/decor, cleanliness, digital slideshow, and communications with housing partnership.

Events, Group Visits, and Campus Visits
  • Lead high-impact campus tours and engage with prospective students and guests.
  • Support the Welcome Center and the campus visitor team with daily and group visits.
  • Serve as liaison between student ambassadors/assistants and professional staff.
  • Assist Campus Experience intern and Events intern with Ambassador trainings as well as making sure Ambassadors are up to date on the latest and greatest campus tour information.
  • Provide pre/day-of/post event support to the Campus Experience Manager and Event intern along with leading the student Welcome Team.
  • Maintain, organize, and restock supplies in Admission office, Ambassador HQ, the 'Pit' and Welcome Center.
  • Oversee group visit materials - Dominican goodie bags, meal vouchers (if applicable), and presentation toolkit - and share itinerary with the Welcome & Information Desk location(s).

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Attend regular staff meetings.
  • Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisor.
  • Maintain a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.
  • Other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work the full-term of the position (a full year from fall-to-spring semester).

  • Must be energetic, positive and customer service centered.
  • Experience in event planning, hospitality, and high-quality customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of Dominican University and the student body.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work in a relationship-centered, culturally responsive manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to effectively learn and use departmental technology to support communication and projects.
  • Strong self-motivation, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous, and professional manner when dealing with Ambassadors, Guests/Visitors, and the Dominican University community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the work of Undergraduate Admissions and desire to share in the mission and goals of the department.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends and attend all 6 major Admission events: Discover DU (November, February, and April) and Admitted Student Day (February, March, and April).
  • Preferred proficiency in Spanish - reading, writing, and speaking.

Education and Experience:
  • Must be a current student at Dominican University.
  • Must be eligible for US employment.
