The hourly rate pay for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $19.00 - 24.00 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

We're looking for an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern who will join our group in Marysville, OH!

This position will be based at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Manufacturing facility in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH. Not familiar with Columbus? Visit columbusregion.com/columbus-2020/

Our internship program is designed to cultivate the professional growth of students through a dynamic work environment. Over the course of 12 weeks you will work on meaningful projects and have opportunities to learn from industry leaders. You will work with our manufacturing facility for 12 weeks which will give you a great overview of EHS at different levels of a manufacturing operation. We are committed to your development but will also rely on you to bring new knowledge, new ideas and innovation into our organization.

We are open to which semester you come on board - Fall ( Sept - Dec) Spring (Jan - May) or Summer (May - August)

What you'll do in this role:

Manufacturing Plant

  • Assist in the health and safety identification and inspection process throughout the facility.

  • Conduct safety compliance audits and inspections.

  • Assist with development and review of Job Task Hazard Analyses (JTHA), PPE analysis and trials, and standard operating procedures.

  • Support the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, including procedure auditing, policy review, and training standardization.

  • Help create and organize EHS training, documentation, and awareness via digital platforms.

  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative actions.

  • Assist with the implementation of facility-specific safety programs (e.g., Confined Space, Fall Protection, PIT, Combustible Dust).

  • Assist in the annual chemical inventory report.

  • Assist with compiling inventory and gathering data on air pollution control equipment.

  • Assist with compiling emission sources data for diagnostic testing and required follow-ups.

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of environmental permit reporting obligations.

  • Assist with identifying and responding to environmental concerns.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school.

  • Possess strong analytical and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication.

  • Prioritize collaboration and problem solving.

  • Manage multiple tasks and is detail-oriented.

  • Have prior internship experience (preferred but not required).
