Job description

Job Title: Sandblaster / Industrial Paint Sprayer

Job Description

This role combines sandblasting and industrial painting responsibilities to prepare and finish metal components to high quality standards. You will clean and prepare surfaces, apply primers and coatings, and ensure all work meets strict customer and internal specifications while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

Responsibilities

  • Clean metal surfaces by removing rust, scale, oil, grease, and other contaminants using blasting equipment.
  • Mask and protect areas that do not require blasting or painting before the beginning operations.
  • Inspect surfaces to ensure they meet required cleanliness and profile standards for proper coating adhesion.
  • Apply primers and paint coatings according to job specifications and work instructions.
  • Measure and record blast profile, as well as wet and dry film thickness, to verify coating performance.
  • Confirm that all coatings meet customer requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Perform routine upkeep and basic maintenance on blasting and painting equipment, including nozzles, hoses, and booths.
  • Clean and maintain blast booths, paint areas, and lighting systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Safely load, unload, and position parts using cranes, forklifts, or other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Follow proper lifting, rigging, and material-handling procedures to protect people and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times.
  • Keep blast and prep areas clear of debris, tools, and excess materials.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements during blasting, painting, and material handling.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and supplied air hood when needed.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents immediately.
  • Help build and support a positive team environment where coworkers assist one another.
  • Follow all Quality Management System procedures related to blasting, painting, inspection, and documentation.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility in Kent, OH, operating on a first shift schedule of four 10-hour days from 4:15 AM to 2:15 PM, Monday through Friday. You will work in an industrial setting with exposure to noise, dust, and other typical manufacturing hazards while using blasting equipment, spray guns, paint booths, cranes, forklifts, and related tools. The role requires standing for long periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting or moving parts of various sizes, with crane assistance available for heavier loads. You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and a supplied air hood when required, and follow all safety and OSHA guidelines in a clean, organized, and safety-focused production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
