Job description

Spray Dry Operator Job Functions

  • Pick and stage materials as needed; make batches as required
  • Ensure equipment is clean before and after product runs
  • Startup production runs
  • Maintain efficient output of dryer during production run
  • Package product according to customer specifications
  • Ensure correct labeling is applied
  • Clearly document production information as required:
    • HACCP, (Critical) Control Point, and other Quality Checks
    • Production operating parameters
    • Properly document appropriate HACCP, Critical Control Point, and other Quality verification checks
  • Packaging product as it is dispensed into the correct container type
  • Clean dryer (using CIP system or handwashing)
  • Maintaining a clean dryer room
  • Assist Batch Team Member and Spray Dry Lead as needed
  • Follow appropriate GMP requirements
  • Assist and co-operate with Continuous Improvement ideas and projects

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in manufacturing / batching environment preferred
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs
  • In-house fork truck certification is required
  • Forklift operation skills preferred
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple manufacturing processes and equipment operations.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Basic math, reading and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Basic PC skills
  • Ability to perform routine work assignments, multi-tasking and following instructions with moderate supervision; ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to understand work procedures, methods, use of required equipment and computerized work instructions

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (performs the following)

  • Ability to perform all functions of Operator I & II
  • Ability to operator all on-site forklifts 
  • Ability to identify correctly and pour raw materials in designated vessel utilizing scales and load cells 
  • Ability to follow work instructions to mix compound, track batch in Sage ERP system and submit sample to Quality 

AND

  • Ability to make washes, emulsions, reactions and magnasweet batches
  • Ability to trouble shoot batches with other operators
  • Work in accordance with all relevant requirements including , but not limited to GMP, SQF, OSHA, HAACP, FDA, USDA and internal safety guidelines
  • Maintains neat, orderly and clean shop floor and workplace at all times
  • Excellent attendance, flexibility, enthusiasm and a positive approach to work performance
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Compliance with systems/programs similar to Flavor Producer's Quality, Safety and Food Safety programs.
