Job description

Social Media Specialist

Help us become the most loved pet brand on the internet. 🐶🐱

At Spot Pet Insurance, we believe pet insurance shouldn't feel boring. Our mission is to educate pet parents, build an engaged community, and create content people actually want to watch, share, and talk about.

We're looking for a creative, social-first Social Media Specialist who lives online, loves internet culture, and knows what makes content stop the scroll. If you're constantly saving TikToks for inspiration, keeping up with trends before everyone else, and genuinely enjoy talking to online communities, we'd love to meet you.

In this role, you'll help bring Spot's social presence to life through content creation, community engagement, customer conversations, and trend-driven storytelling. You'll work alongside our content and marketing teams to create campaigns that entertain, educate, and connect with millions of pet lovers.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and emerging platforms.
  • Create engaging short-form video content, graphics, and social assets that align with Spot's brand voice.
  • Build and maintain weekly and monthly content calendars.
  • Monitor social trends, viral moments, and platform updates to identify new content opportunities.
  • Engage with our online community by responding to comments, messages, reviews, and conversations across social platforms.
  • Respond to inbound customer messages through Intercom and partner with our Customer Service team to ensure every pet parent has a great experience.
  • Help develop community management best practices, workflows, and automations within Intercom.
  • Maintain customer correspondence and internal communication through ClickUp.
  • Monitor customer feedback, identify recurring themes, and proactively surface insights and potential issues to internal teams.
  • Manage and respond to customer reviews across review platforms.
  • Support our customer spotlight and advocacy initiatives by helping showcase real Spot members and their pets.
  • Track engagement and content performance to help identify what's working and uncover new opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate closely with the Content Strategist and Marketing team on creative brainstorming, campaign execution, and special projects.

What We're Looking For

  • 1-2 years of prior social media coordination experience.
  • Passion for social media, content creation, and digital storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and emerging social platforms.
  • Experience creating or editing engaging short-form video content.
  • Excellent written communication skills with an eye for brand voice and internet culture.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable collaborating across teams while also taking initiative independently.
  • Curious, creative, and always looking for new ideas to improve content and community engagement.
  • Ability to analyze engagement metrics and identify trends that can improve performance.
  • Keeps up with the latest social media trends, platform updates, creator culture, and digital marketing best practices.

Bonus Points If You...

  • Love pets (obviously!).
  • Have experience managing brand social accounts or building your own social presence.
  • Have experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative tools.
  • Have worked with community management platforms such as Intercom or Sprout Social.
  • Have a great sense of humor and aren't afraid to pitch bold, creative ideas.

If you're excited about creating content that helps pet parents while building one of the most engaging brands in the pet space, we'd love to hear from you.
