Job description

 

We are seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Sportswear Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing seasonal collections that align with brand strategy, customer expectations, and commercial goals. You will work closely with Sales, Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design to bring innovative and trend-right sportswear to life.

This role requires a strong understanding of market trends, technical fabrics, fit and construction, and a passion for blending performance and style.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop seasonal sportswear collections, including initial concepts, sketches, CADs, and technical design packages.

  • Research market trends, consumer behavior, competitive landscape, and materials to create relevant and forward-thinking designs.

  • Prepare presentation materials, including storyboards, color palettes, and design concepts for internal and external meetings.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design to ensure design intent is maintained from concept through final product.

  • Partner with fabric and trim teams to select innovative and performance-driven materials.

  • Attend fittings and work closely with the Technical Design team to fine-tune fit, function, and aesthetic.

  • Manage timelines to meet key design calendar milestones and deliverables.

  • Maintain organized digital files and thorough handoff documentation.

  • Balance creativity with commercial viability to support business goals across multiple price points or distribution channels.

  • Stay current with innovations in fabric, construction and sustainability initiatives relevant to the sportswear industry.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in apparel design with a focus on sportswear or lifestyle categories.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing sportswear or related apparel designs (must include CADs, flats, concept development, and final product examples).

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design tools; familiarity with PLM systems REQUIRED (Centric PLM experience a plus).

  • Solid knowledge of garment construction, technical fabrics, trims and fit standards.

  • Strong sense of trend forecasting, color and material innovation.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and timelines.

Bonus Points:
  • Experience designing for Costco or Sam's Club Programs, or larger retail stores such as Target and Walmart.

  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices or circular product development.

  • 3D design experience (e.g., Clo3D, Browzwear) a plus but not required.
