Position Summary:

The Dynatrace Engineer is responsible for implementing and configuring the Dynatrace observability platform to support the organization''s DevOps and Observability transformation initiative. Working with DevOps Engineers and Application Teams, this role will establish enterprise observability standards and enable end-to-end visibility across applications, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Observability Assessment

  • Assess the current monitoring, logging, and observability environment.
  • Evaluate existing monitoring tools, instrumentation, and operational practices.
  • Identify monitoring gaps and support the observability maturity assessment.

Dynatrace Implementation

  • Install, configure, and administer Dynatrace OneAgent and ActiveGate.
  • Configure management zones, tagging standards, dashboards, and alerting.
  • Establish standardized monitoring for applications and infrastructure.

Application Instrumentation

  • Instrument pilot applications using Dynatrace best practices.
  • Configure application performance monitoring, distributed tracing, metrics, and log collection.
  • Validate application telemetry and end-to-end visibility.

DevOps & CI/CD Integration

  • Integrate Dynatrace with CI/CD pipelines to support automated deployment validation.
  • Configure deployment markers, release tagging, and quality gates.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to embed observability into the software delivery lifecycle.

Dashboards & Operational Metrics

  • Develop dashboards for engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Define and implement SLIs, SLOs, KPIs, and alerting standards.
  • Support operational reporting and service health monitoring.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

  • Develop technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures.
  • Support knowledge transfer sessions with application, operations, and DevOps teams.

Additional Project Responsibilities:

  • Conduct onboarding workshops and monitoring discovery sessions with application owners to define monitoring strategy, dashboards, alerting, and operational requirements.
  • Configure and support Real User Monitoring (RUM) and Synthetic Monitoring capabilities for web and business-critical applications.
  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Dynatrace ActiveGate infrastructure in complex enterprise and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Onboard cloud-hosted workloads, Kubernetes platforms, and hybrid applications into Dynatrace using enterprise best practices.
  • Configure Davis AI problem detection, anomaly detection, alerting policies, and event correlation to improve operational response.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of enterprise monitoring or observability experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of hands-on Dynatrace administration and implementation.
  • Experience supporting cloud and hybrid enterprise environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading customer/application onboarding workshops and monitoring discovery sessions.
  • Experience deploying and supporting Dynatrace ActiveGate architecture.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Synthetic Monitoring and Real User Monitoring (RUM).
  • Experience onboarding cloud-native and hybrid applications into Dynatrace.

Technical Skills

  • Dynatrace (OneAgent, ActiveGate, Smartscape, PurePath, Davis AI)
  • Application Performance Monitoring (APM)
  • Distributed Tracing, Metrics, Logging, and Dashboard Development
  • CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins, GitLab)
  • Microsoft Azure and/or AWS
