Summer Deadline: January 31st
13-14 week Internship, negotiable based on kinesiology/exercise science undergraduate degree program requirements for internships.
NIFS Internship is a full-time, unpaid, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
*A stipend is provided for expenses such as gas, living expenses, etc.
Location: Indianapolis, IN
We are looking for interns who are interested in gaining experience in Commercial Fitness or Corporate Fitness Management. This opportunity provides an inside look at the daily operations of fitness centers and supporting the fitness and wellness needs of its members and/or client groups.

Position Summary:
The NIFS Intern uses specialized education and training to gain experience in all areas of the Fitness Center, including but not limited to exercise program design, fitness testing, customer service, group exercise, and other Fitness Center and/or departmental initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Undergraduate Students: Junior or Senior status in Health/Fitness related program
  • Graduate Students: currently in a program or recent completion of graduate degree

Areas of Focus Include:
  • Operations of day-to-day activities
  • Individual Fitness Assessments: utilizing ACSM guidelines
  • Exercise Prescriptions
  • Group Fitness: formats, creating and implementing classes
  • Fitness/Wellness Programming: creating and evaluating incentive programs
  • Social Media and Blogging
  • Resume: development
  • Wellness Presentation: topic of choice to be created and presented
  • Interviewing: interview prep and mock interview
  • Evaluations: mid and final evaluations for program completion
