Responsibilities

The Director, Sports Partnerships is a business development role responsible for managing a sports partnerships strategy and identifying, developing, and securing new national and international sales opportunities. Primary focus will be on team activations, fan experiences and sports tours.

Target partnerships could include:
  • Professional sports leagues, teams & college athletics – including league/team marketing offices, stadium and arena ownership groups, and their fan zone, season activation, and event programming
  • Major event organizing & host committees
  • Sports tours & traveling properties
  • Sports marketing & experiential agencies – often the procurement gatekeeper even when the work is for a team or league
  • Brand sponsors with active sports marketing budgets – e.g., beverage, auto, tech, and financial-services sponsors funding team activations and fan tours independent of the rights holder
  • Combat sports, sports entertainment & esports – stadium-scale fan experience and activation builds
Essential Functions
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new national and international sales opportunities, with a primary focus on the sports vertical
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships, emphasizing repeat business
  • Collaborate with Technical Design, Estimation, and Operations to align creative concepts with feasible, cost-effective scenic solutions
  • Coordinate internal technical and service resources during early-stage project development
  • Lead the RFP and presentation process from concept through award, including strategy, pricing, and value positioning
  • Define project scope with clients, including scenic elements, budget, schedule, and resource requirements
  • Identify and expand revenue opportunities within accounts, increasing scenic scope and project value
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records (Accounts, Opportunities, Contacts, Projects) per PRG standards
  • Position scenic as a lead discipline in client conversations, not just a supporting scope
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and client events to build brand presence and generate leads
