Sports Partnership information

What is a sports partnership?

Sports partnerships refer to collaborative agreements between organizations, such as brands, companies, or media outlets, and sports entities like teams, leagues, athletes, or events. These partnerships typically aim to promote mutual benefits, such as increasing brand visibility for sponsors and providing financial or strategic support to sports organizations. Common forms of sports partnerships include sponsorships, co-branded campaigns, content collaborations, and community initiatives. Effective sports partnerships leverage the popularity and reach of sports to engage fans, boost marketing efforts, and achieve business objectives for both parties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sports partnership manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sports Partnership Manager, you need expertise in business development, relationship management, and a solid understanding of the sports industry, often supported by a degree in marketing, business, or sports management. Familiarity with CRM systems, sponsorship activation platforms, and analytics tools is typically required. Exceptional negotiation, communication, and networking skills help build and maintain strong partnerships with brands, teams, and stakeholders. These abilities are crucial for maximizing partnership value, driving revenue, and ensuring mutually beneficial collaborations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in sports partnership roles?

Professionals in Sports Partnership roles often face the challenge of balancing the expectations and objectives of both internal stakeholders and external partners, such as sponsors, teams, or media outlets. Navigating contract negotiations, activating partnership agreements, and ensuring that both parties achieve measurable value can be complex, especially in a fast-paced and competitive sports environment. Additionally, adapting to evolving market trends and fan engagement strategies requires continuous learning and strong relationship management skills. Collaboration across marketing, sales, and event teams is essential to successfully execute partnership activations and maintain long-term relationships.

University of Evansville

Evansville, IN • On-site

Full-time

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

The University of Evansville (UE) Student Affairs division is seeking an energetic, organized, and student-focused Coordinator for Fitness Center and Intramural Sports. This is a full-time university administrator role that plays a vital part in campus life, promoting health, wellness, and community through comprehensive recreational programming.
As the Coordinator, you will help manage our Student Fitness Center: featuring free weights, cardio equipment, court spaces, an indoor track, a swimming pool, and field spaces, while leading a robust intramural sports schedule. If you are passionate about collegiate recreation, student leadership development, and active campus engagement, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
The Coordinator balances facility management with active student programming and staff development. Your main duties will include:
  • Intramural Program Management: Coordinate a large-scale, engaging intramural sports program consisting of 30+ events annually for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Student Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise a large team of student employees, including sports officials, game supervisors, and facility lifeguards.
  • Facility Operations: Support the daily operation and management of the Student Fitness Center in partnership with the Director.
  • Health & Fitness Programming: Assist with general wellness programming, fitness challenges, and educational health initiatives for the campus community.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Partner with the Director to hire and supervise fitness center student staff, and collaborate closely with the campus Esports program on fitness-related initiatives and intramural coordination.
  • University Service: Represent the department and serve on various university committees as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Experience: Professional experience in recreational sports management, preferably within a collegiate setting.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and supervise student staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability: Due to the nature of student recreation, this position requires evenings and flexible day hours to support programs and events.

Why Join the UE Student Affairs Team?
At the University of Evansville, campus recreation is central to student wellness, retention, and community building. As part of our Student Affairs team, you will work in an energetic, supportive environment where your leadership directly impacts student life. You will have the autonomy to shape exciting intramural leagues, mentor student workers, and foster a lifelong culture of health on campus.
