Job Summary:

The Operations Intern will provide day-to-day operation support across the Hall of Fame Village campus while gaining hands-on experience in sports, events, facility, and stadium operations. This position offers the opportunity to work with multiple departments, while contributing to high-profile football events and operational improvement projects.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong interpersonal skills, demonstrates a willingness to jump into any task, and has in interest in sports and event operations.


Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior guest service to visitors, guests, clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Provide administrative support to the Operations team, including data entry, maintaining calendars, event documentation, and checklists.
  • Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of private events, major campus events, and sporting events.
  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating the schedule of football events throughout the fall season.
  • Support operations for Canton McKinley Football regular season, Canton McKinley Football postseason, Opendorse Bowl Series, OHSAA Championship Events, etc.
  • Assist with event logistics, staffing coordination, venue readiness, and event-day execution for football and championship events.
  • Operational Improvement Projects including: assisting with reorganizing and overhauling storage areas across multiple facilities on campus (including Tom Benson Stadium, Constellation Center for Excellence, Center for Performance, and more); support asset-tagging initiatives and inventory management efforts for operational equipment and materials; and help maintain accurate inventory records and improve organization and accountability of operational assets.
  • Interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and assist in executing events according to client expectations and operational requirements.
  • Review event sheets and assist in ensuring proper setup of tables, chairs, risers, signage, and other event equipment.
  • Assist with stadium operations and sporting events throughout the Hall of Fame Village campus.
  • Collect, distribute, and organize event sheets and operational documentation for large-scale events.
  • Serve in flexible event-support roles including usher, guest services, parking, security support, and other event-day assignments as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members across multiple departments to ensure smooth event execution and campus-wide operational efficiency.
  • Follow organizational policies, procedures, and compliance standards associated with a publicly traded company.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Desired Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in sports, event management, facility management, venue operations, or the sports and entertainment industry.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to take initiative, adapt quickly to changing event needs, and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, vendors, clients, and staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams) preferred.
  • Willingness to assist in a variety of operational areas, including event setup and breakdown, inventory management, facility support, and event-day operations.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain professionalism, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Previous experience in event operations, athletics, facilities, guest services, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not required.


Physical Requirements for Position:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to work in various Ohio weather conditions, inside and outside.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and assist with event setup, breakdown, and other operational responsibilities as needed.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain, steps, or in construction zones.
  • The ability to see and respond to hazardous situations.
  • Must be able to hear, see, and speak.
  • Must be available to work in Canton, Ohio.

Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium is a world-class 23,000 seat, sports and entertainment stadium with luxury suites, rooftop cabanas, and other premium spaces for private, corporate, and special events. ForeverLawn Sports Complex is home to a wide array of tournaments with its seven turfed multipurpose fields with tournament quality lighting and hospitality, ticketing, and coaching/classroom/medical building.
