Job description

The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individuals for part-time Sports Staff positions.
This role is a profound opportunity to directly impact the lives of the communities we serve by fostering genuine connections, practicing exceptional hospitality, and creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. The Sports Staff will help to create an inclusive and engaging experience while promoting programs that encourage health and wellness within our community.
Location: Rancho Mission Viejo Pavilion
Work Schedule: Candidates must be available to work the following shifts:
  • Monday 3:30pm - 9:00pm
  • Wednesday 1:00pm - 9:00pm
  • Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm

Purpose and Impact:
  • Ensure Facility Readiness:
    • Inspect, prepare, and maintain sports fields and equipment to create a safe, organized, and enjoyable environment for all participants.
  • Facilitate Participant Experience:
    • Guide participants through registration and check-in, manage program paperwork, and deliver clear communication of program details. Officiate games and maintain accurate scoring when assigned.
  • Inspire Positive Engagement:
    • Champion fairness and inclusion by supervising activities, addressing concerns promptly, and creating a welcoming environment where every participant feels valued and supported.
  • Build Positive Connections:
    • Engage with participants and families to foster a friendly atmosphere, answer questions, and share information that enhances their overall experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum Age: Must be 16 years with a valid work permit
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Experience in customer service preferred.
    • Must have experience in sports.
    • Must be able to work with children ages 3 to 15 years old.
    • Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills.
  • Certifications:
    • First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).
