For Nike merchants, everything begins and ends with the consumer! We are looking for a consumerist with an affinity for product who enjoys the energy of moving at the pace of retail and our consumer. WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
We work closely with fellow merchants, buyers and cross-functional teams within Nike Direct; Digital and Stores Buying, Geo Sport Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, and Brand Marketing. We also work with Site Experience, operations and the insights/analytics teams; relying on business reporting which includes quantitative and qualitative metrics on sales, inventory and consumer behavior.

We are looking for consumerists with an affinity for product that enjoys the energy of moving at the pace of retail and the consumer. A successful Senior Buyer will thrive and contribute to a positive and progressive team dynamic, as well as contributes in a way that elevates the total team.
This role is responsible for adapting & curating consumer right assortments with end in mind for the NDDC business by using historical data, analytics and real-time market feedback to advise the future seasons, while winning today (in-season read & react/selling). The Merchandising team understands consumer needs and market opportunities to craft the product mix. We blend art with science to bring Nike's vision to life. The team has the ability to see beyond trends and identify new market opportunities, delivering the right product, at the right price, in the right place, at the right time
The candidate should possess proven retail competence and analytical abilities, have an understanding of digital environments, and bring a consumerist perspective to the team and business.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • 4+ years' experience in footwear or apparel buying and/or merchandising, product creation and/or retail in a vertical, multi-brand or digital environment
  • Strong affinity for current market trends and how Nike apparel can continue to be a style leader in the marketplace
  • Footwear, Apparel, Equipment or relevant consumer product buying and/or merchandising experience
  • Understanding of common retail key performance indicators and/or digital profit-based metrics such as sell-through, turn, ASP, Demand, Conversion and others
  • Experience developing strong working relationships with teammates and cross-functional partners
  • Great teammate and contributor, with an attitude and excitement to learn new things
  • Strong communication skills and comfort navigating a cross-functional matrix with an emphasis on influencing skills
  • Attention to detail, understanding the importance of consistency
  • Ability to contribute to and drive strategy into action that shape the future of the business

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You will own bringing the seasonal assortment to life on Nike Direct Digital. You will understand related aspects of the business and marketplace in making your plans, including coordinating between sports, brands (Nike & Jordan) and how individual products or collections impact each other. You will collaborate cross functionally to ensure assortment plans meet consumer demand and strategies execute. You will hone consumer-centric assortment plans across multiple seasons with an understanding of Nike Direct's position in the market & competitive landscape to blend fact-based and intuitive inputs. You will participate in seasonal buy reviews and in-season trading to influence actions to optimize growth with your critical partners.
